We arrived early and enjoyed two delicious cocktails (Calvados Sidecar with absinthe and a classic Negroni) at the Wallace Bar, named after the original owner of the Golden Swan on 4th Street. We then moved to the cozy upstairs dining room for our meal. Chef Doug Brixton, previously of the Michelin-starred Bâtard, prepared a perfectly cooked Poached Halibut and Crescent Duck for us, which were beautifully presented by the attentive waitstaff. The wine captain, Penny, was friendly and knowledgeable, suggesting a Morgon Gamay and a Guimaro Mencia to complement our dishes. The chocolate Marjolaine dessert with coffee ice cream was a delightful end to a truly memorable dining experience in New York City.
I just got back from spending two days in the camping field of the pub. The staff was very friendly and the pub food was excellent. The only downside was the limited number of women's toilets. Having a shower and toilet block in the camping field would be a great improvement.
We absolutely adore this pub and bring our granddaughters every year for Sunday lunch. The owners are friendly and we highly recommend the lunch, as it is always cooked to perfection and served in generous portions. We appreciate the option to pre-order and the short wait time. We have also enjoyed evening meals here, which are equally delicious and reasonably priced. Despite not living nearby, we are tempted to make the journey more often because of the fantastic food.
We went on a walk along the K&A canal my map app showed a pub near to the canal. We are so glad we found this pub. Such a lovely old style village pub. Asked if the did food. It was Sunday so they only did Sunday lunch. We ordered two. Woow. So impressed by the Sunday lunch. Good sized plates. Lots of meat with the veg , stuffing , Yorkshire pud and the best proper roast potatoes ever. Service was great. Also the attention to detail. My partner had chicken I had the pork. The gravy came in two gravy boats. One was for the Chicken dinner and the other for The pork. There are not many pubs or restaurants that would do that. Thank You to every staff member. Will visit again for sure and recommend this amazing place for Sunday lunch.
We visited here as we stayed in a local air bnb and saw this was nearby. Firstly, the pub only serves food from 5.30 onwards and isn’t open on Tuesdays so do check before you arrive. The Facebook page and website don’t seem to be up to date… However! That being said! It’s a lovely lovely pub. It serves local ales and has a nice menu. We ordered pork belly and steak, it was simple, rustic food done well. The mash with the pork belly was done by hand, and very buttery, very nice. The pork itself wasn’t crackly as described but was a whole rolled joint of slow cooked roast pork belly which was amazing. Couldn’t get better value for money anywhere else. The steak had home fried onion rings and the steak itself was huge, again incredible value for money. The cask beer was beautifully kept and served local brewery ales. Would definitely return if in the area and would thoroughly recommend to any one near by. They also have camping facilities.
