The food itself was most disappointing, nothing was hot, probably not helped by being served on a wooden board we won’t make that mistake again, the quality of the beef was good but the vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and gravy were very poor. The potatoes were hard and tasted unpleasant, they had definitely been reheated, possibly over reheated and then let get cold again. The parsnips and carrots also had that reheated taste and texture. The medley of veg red cabbage, kale and a broccoli gratin were all served in a bowl together, which was just mushy and lukewarm. Cold plates didn’t help matters either. There are several better places to visit locally for Sunday lunch and a return visit isn’t on the cards. The manager walked past us several times and we think he avoided asking us if everything was ok, because he knew what the answer would be. All the basics were just wrong. Such a shame, as it could be so much better. Felt particularly disappointed after spending £90 on what was should have been an enjoyable family treat.
We stayed with a couple of Motorhome’s by prior arrangement. Lovely sunset and deck. Then came Into eat. Pub food done well. Drank loads of a good local beer and a few bottles of wines. Not overly expensive. Owner has engaging and Interesting. Clearly working very hard to make something of the business. We will return. Not only for the view but because people trying hard and working hard in local pubs need support.
Upon our arrival, we were shown to our table and seated. The drinks orders were taken quickly but they took at least 20 minutes to come. We ordered a roast sharing board. We had been at our table for over an hour before the first course came out the staff didn't apologise or seem interested. When our food finally arrived, we asked for some salt and were given sachets of salt that was congealed in the packet. Yet, another table had been given salt and pepper grinders (they also had all their courses before us and arrived after us). We didn't get asked about whether we wanted anymore drinks when our glasses were empty so we ended up having to go to the bar as it was quicker. We decided to order desert and after saying yes to being able to provide Vanilla Icecream with the Millionaires shortbread, it arrived without they didn't tell us though until we asked... Overall the Roast Dinner was good The puddings were not good. One of the urinals in the mens toilet was filled up with urine and overflowing onto the floor. But, they put a wet floor sign underneath it, so that's fine?
We went to the Rising Sun for a family Sunday lunch. We were seated in the conservatory, we asked if we could sit out on the deck but this is not possible if you’re having Sunday lunch. The sun was shining directly in my in-laws faces, when we asked if the blind could be lowered the waitress asked her manager who said this couldn’t be done. The alternative table we were offered was too small for our party of five to be seated comfortably so we elected to stay put. The Sunday lunch was ok, though the quantity of meat and roast potatoes for the price was not particularly generous, especially for those of us who had beef. The thin pieces of beef were reminiscent of school dinners. We decided to have a two course lunch with pudding. We had quite a long wait before the puddings we ordered arrived. My husband enjoyed his strawberry cheesecake but I was disappointed with the Eton Mess because it was about 60% crème fraiche, 29% compote and 1% meringue. The crumble seemed like it had been microwaved and had very little flavour. Service was attentive but slow, the group at the next table had been waiting for their starter for a while when the manager told them it would be a couple of minutes; they still hadn’t arrived by the time we left. The manager was quite dogmatic, shouting across the room at his staff. We had only gone there because of the view and would not go there again to eat.
Absolutely furious. A lovely pub now spoilt by 'card only payments ' and as I 'm awaiting a new card I can 't eat here. Will not be coming again.
