There was always loads of grass in the loos as when they cut the grass they don’t have a grass box so all the cut grass goes back on the grass making the toilet floor a sea of grass all the time, ate in the pub on the Friday night my friend ordered fudge cake and the sauce was well burnt and stuck solid to the plate but they happily replaced it, I would stay again as it’s a lovely area but I will make sure I take plenty of toilet roll and would probably use my own porta loo than their toilets as more hygienic
We stayed for 4 nights in our camper van over Easter and had a lovely time. Although only 2 shower cubicles available 1 for men and 1 for women they were kept very clean so not a problem. The landlord of pub is a really friendly guy . Plenty of walks direct from the pub site so no need for car and very dog friendly . Will definitely return and fully recommend for a long weekend away.
Booked a campervan space with electrical hookup not knowing what to expect, but it was convenient for our plans. What a gem! The landlord and locals could not have been more friendly and welcoming, we felt part of the family! Great facilities and offer a tasty cooked breakfast on Sunday morning. We will be back!
This pub has been on my radar for a camping weekend away with chums as I have passed by on a motorbike and pushbike numerous times over the last 10 years. We planned to stay there last year but Covid meant last Autumn was off the cards plus I wondered as to how the change of landlord and the lockdown period had affected the place. As it turned out, the camping, the pub, Stefan (the landlord) and his team were excellent. The weather on Friday and Sunday was glorious but the Saturday (the day we were supposed to be cycling) was so wet we stayed in the Bruce from 9am (a fine breakfast there) to around 9pm, watched the rugby, drank plenty of beer (four beers on hand pumps) and caught up with each other for what the first time in ages. The pub serves food from 9-12 but despite no food in the evening, is still a popular spot for locals of all ages to just drink and chat; just what pubs used to be like. Evening food for Friday was found at the excellent Pewsey chippy and Saturday's was from the equally excellent Tale of Spice who will deliver to The Bruce. The campsite is the field behind the pub which is well drained and level with clean toilet and shower facilities at the back of the pub. All in all a superb weekend, excellent beer and thanks again to Stefan and his team for a great stay. I will return at some point and would recommend it to anyone looking to camp in that area.
A truly friendly, quiet and lovely camping site. The pub is a real country pub, no pretensions, very good value and above all people talk to you. The shower and toilet facilities are clean and cared for. All in all a very good site to visit. Say hi to Steph and staff.
