The Reel Cafe - Wilmington

The blond female bartender ignored me and wouldn't serve me. I write this while I said at this point that I was cut off because I was rolling my eyes while she ignored me. I never had such a terrible experience in a bar. I was cut off 5 minutes ago. I'm fine and don't deserve to be cut off. If I wasn't ignored, it wouldn't happen. I assume that this is due to her males and not to females, for she served men at the bar that came after me. Anyone who reads this post can probably understand that I am coherent enough to not be cut off, and I think it was unfair treatment. But the other bartenders were very friendly. The male bartender who used to serve me told me that I was cut off and seemed confused, why she cut me off and said he had to respect his employee, he was respectful and I just asked to close my tab as I was cut off. The bar was a fun atmosphere and pleasant time. I hope that the blond female bartender on the second floor will not ruin my night when I get to the bar.

We were immediately waited for 45 minutes to order drinks, never got the drinks then 15-20 minutes later came another waiter and took our appetizer order, then almost immediately they came and took our entree order. Another 10-15 minutes went without drinks or food and someone came and told us that it was an hour and a half before our food would even begin to be prepared. I wish they could have known us from the beginning so that we didn't wait so long.

This was earlier one of our favorite places to stop and eat when in the city, but the last visit we were treated to warm, shallow beer and sloppy burgers, so I doubt that we will be back. We ordered the Carolina Burger and they put the chili and the in-law in the ground they made soggy.

Great downtown for dinner or a few drinks! Has outdoor seating, a karaoke bar on the second floor and live music on the roof most weekends. Also great place for film enthusiasts? had some signed Paraphernalia(One Tree Hill, Dawson?s Creek) etc. and had a special drink menu with theme film cocktails from locally filmed projects. Our waitress said it was a popular place for college children during the semester, but was not too crowded on Saturday night we went in summer.

Waitress was kind and knowledgeable about the menu. Service was very fast and the sweet tea was great. The pimento cheese dip was kickin' and the shrimp and grits platter is a must try. The only thing that brings this rating down is the bathrooms were gross and very WET. It could be a hazardous situation and someone can fall.
