But worth the search. It is a tavern, but we went for a quick bite to eat late Thursday night, so it wasn't too crowded or too loud. Don't know what it would be like on Friday or Saturday night, but that isn't our thing. We heard about the great food so we ventured in. Glad we did wow, waitress was right there with placemats and silverware and menus. Lots to choose from and the prices are great. I had a meatball sandwich with (you get your choice of sides fries, beer battered fries, potato salad, Cole slaw, others) beer battered fries, since I had never tried them. My friend ordered a chef's salad with turkey. My sandwich came out steaming hot, including the bun and loaded with meatballs. The fries were incredible stayed hot the whole meal and crunchy good. There were several other items on the menu I would like to try and the special for the night was chicken cordon bleu, which I didn't notice until after I had ordered. Also on the special board was apple crisp with ice cream. Sounded delicious, but I was full and so was my friend. Total with drinks $20.25 including tax. We both had sodas Coca Cola on tap, no alcoholic beverages. It's a little out of the way for us, but we will go again when we are in the area or just want something different and delicious when the kitchen closes early at home.
I love blue collar neighborhood family-owned bars. Especially the ones that are smoke free, not too loud for conversation, and have sporting events on the tube. This place meets these standards. Solid bar food, affordable beer, and located in the neighborhood behind the Little League World Series facilities. Great local people. Glad my new friend at the golf course nearby recommended it!
Great place to go if you are looking for typical North Central PA bar food. The wings are delicious, I highly recommend the sweet chili sauce if your into sweet/spicy. They also offer daily specials. All at a fair price point. I only give it 4 stars because they have one large table for parties over 4 people. It is one of those plastic-folding tables you might buy at Sams Club. Seems kind of cheap and doesn't go with the rest of the decor. Not very comfortable to eat at either. The tables and chairs could use some updating.
Went in for lunch and I will fully admit, the place was busy. Remember that key piece. We grab the first table we see. After 10 minutes I go and grab our own menues while we watch more people come on in and grab their own seats. 10 minutes later we grab a beer from the bar as we still hasn't been seen by a waitress. Bartender says someone will be right over. We are now done are beer and see that the 4 tables that came in after us had food in front of them and we hadn't even been asked for our order yet. The waitress then came and said she'd be right over, never saw her and left after 40 minutes of no service. The beer was good and well priced, the food looked good but I wouldn't know. Would gladly go try it again and hopefully get fed, however can only give a 1 star for now as we had to leave after 40 minutes with no service.
Great quality food and large portions for a great price. Beer is very nicely priced. Small town bar atmosphere. I have eaten salads, sandwiches, and soup and continue to be wowed. You would never expect it from looking at the place.
