We ordered a dinner for 4. The portions were really big. The chicken fried rice and chicken noodle dish had deli chicken meat (not actual chicken breast) and the beef chop suey did came with chicken some how. However the food tasted good and there wasn’t tons of salt and msg so we are giving the review a 3.
Never particularly dined in but did eat lots of different dishes there. For someone who's lived in Toronto and had this kind of food from one end of the spectrum to the other, I can safely say that the food here is below par/mediocre at best. Many of the dishes are bland and made with processed ingredients (the chicken specifically was the most disappointing). Anything that has chicken as a secondary ingredient uses processed, sliced chicken that has zero flavor. The rice in the fried rice isn't fried or seasoned, it's just plain white rice. No sesame oil, soy sauce or anything to give it any flavor profile. Same goes for the chow mein. Fried dishes (boneless pork and chicken) also tasted old and dry almost every time I ordered them. It was obvious that they were cooked and left on the heat plate a bit too long. I could also tell not the best cuts were used to make these dishes, more often than not I found myself biting into a chunk of fat, cartilage or tendon. Almost every piece has something unpleasant in it and it also tastes as though it was deep fried in old oil (yes, almost every time). The wonton also barely has any meat in it. It's almost a 1:10 meat/wrapper ratio. Aside from that, it's not the worst I've ever eaten and the portions are pretty big which I suppose is alright but the argument of quality over quantity will always be at play. The options for Chinese restaurants are slim so if you crave for this particular kind of food, you kind of have to work with what you have. I wouldn't say I'd never come back but I'd need to have a DIEHARD craving for Chinese food to warrant a return.
We did a phone, take out order for 2 on June 5, 2022. The service was great but the food was mediocre. There was no plum sauce for the spring rolls. The chicken chow mien was simply cooked noodles with the tiniest bit of cabbage in it and the chicken was a slice of deli chicken, cut julienne style and laid on top. The sweet and sour and beef broccoli were OK.
Best Spring/Egg rolling in town! Life even changes. Can we get them in bite form? All right. Also a fantastic stopport for young, growing hockey players after a long Tourney Days. Love the family that leads this place, service was always the most excellent to our little family. Thank you
