DELI - Wien

Waren am Abend nach der Arbeit dort um gemütlich den Arbeitstag ausklingen zu lassen. Haben zum Glück noch einen Tisch ergattert. Sehr gutes orientalisches Essen und ein sehr freundliches Personal. Man fühlt sich an lauen Sommerabenden dort ein bisschen wie im Urlaub.

Nice little area where you can get all sorts of goodies, it’s a feast for your senses. Ended up getting a variety of cheeses, charcuterie, olives and marinated vegetables which turned out to be lunch for our entire 3-day stay. Also a number of brunch/lunch spots if you’d like to linger a little longer.

They serve breakfast all day. We had bagel with cream cheese, omlets, salmon wrap, mozarella plate, avocado with green salad. Also asked some extra salmon and cheese which were not in the menu, and they were so kind to serve it. As drink we had nachmarkt shake which has carrot, orange as ingredients. They put a slice of watermeloon on each plate, it was so nice. Prices are normal.

I reviewed this place last year, giving it full marks. Unfortunately it has seriously gone downhill since. We have been back there several times and tried other dishes, and three out of four times there was something wrong. The Bechamel sauce from the menu was obviously out, so they told us, in the end quite angrily, that Bechamel sauce is made of avocado and parsley. Nowhere have I found that to be the case. (They still maintain it to this day, so beware that, to Deli, Bechamel is not what it is to the rest of the world). Today we ordered salad with avocado, only there was no avocado. The explanation we received was that the kitchen obviously changed its mind. While I understand that kitchens can run out of foods I find it intolerable to be treated like a fool when you politely inquire about the lack of food you expected.
