Diaz Tex-mex - Whitney

I hadn't been back home to Whitney in a good while, I never expected to find good Mexican food in this town, I have been a couple times already and the family and I have enjoyed our meals here both times with no issues. The option to order online as well is convenient. We will be returning customers.

I have no idea how this restaurant is rated 4.2. I was incredibly disappointed in my fajitas. They looked like they had come frozen out of a bag and had no flavor. We ordered the queso with mushrooms, peppers and onions and it was literally a bowl of half melted shredded cheese that had to be taken out with a fork. Would not recommend at all.

We gave it two tries.The first time we tried to give her the benefit of the doubt; maybe she’s upset about the family or somethings happened in her personal life. The food was good enough that we went back again.But the woman who’s seemingly in charge and serves aswell has an awful attitude. Everything seemed to annoy and inconvenience her, even as small as getting extra tortillas was a huge harrumph for no visible reason. She went out of her way to be rude to my husband while he was in the middle of thanking her for the good meal and by the time we left we were quite upset. The food was great but I can get fajitas somewhere else. The service was pathetic, no sense of hospitality whatsoever.

The food and ambience of Diaz are spectacular, the quality of the chips and salsa as well as the entrees my wife and I enjoyed were really quite remarkable. The downside was that on both occasions the hostess/owner of the restaurant was incredibly upset both times we’ve eaten there, being at times rushed, impatient, and walking away in the middle of complimenting the food. She seemed to have personal matters in mind, which is excusable, but we observed her treating other customers much kinder. It left us with mixed feelings of enjoying food but hating the received service. We would eat there again if we had a different server.

Nice little mex spot. Good people, good food and very reasonable prices. The decor leaves a bit to be desired but it's solid and cheap. Recommended.
