Roundhouse Lodge - Whistler

The only reason to go to this place is because you are up there and you are hungry. It is totally worth it to sit down and enjoy the views from the top of the mountain while you have something to eat.It was a little too expensive for what we got but of course it is understandable due to the logistics to get everything up there and the fact that this place is only really functioning part of the year.

Great place for a rest and some food, sit by the window and enjoy the view. If you have chilli, order the ordinary bowl, not the bread bowl, it's delicious!

This review is specifically for the summer Mountaintop Feast Buffet at the Roundhouse. We pre-purchased tickets for my husband, son, and me; my two daughters ate free (kids under 6 are free). The food was terrific, and there was an amazing amount of choices. My husband and I were particularly impressed with the variety of salads, which were all incredibly fresh and interesting (beet salad, coleslaw with apples, Asian noodle salad). My kids especially loved the array of desserts (of course). Buffets can be pricey, but I thought this was excellent value. Just be sure to get there early to get a table near the windows. We got there around 5:10 and already all of the tables by the windows were taken.

We were there for a wedding so the review is a little biased as it was a buffet style with a menu chosen by the hosts of course. Overall, you can't beat the view, whether it is from the outside or anywhere inside beside floor to ceiling windows. The service was well done and responsive - there were 300 people in attendance all eating at once. Food wise, the ribs were on the dry side and the roast beef could have been rarer. The rest of the food was excellent however, whether it was the fish or veggies. Dessert was typically Canadian but delicious.

My review is probably biased by my initial feelings of the facility which I thought was a bit outdated. The outdated look just did not provide any ambiance. I preferred the Rendezvous Restaurant on Blackcomb. There is no question that the views were stunning. The food choices were not really to my liking and the dishes we had were not prepared very well. The noodle dish was just luke warm and the sandwich ingredients just did not appear to be that fresh. The prices were a bit high but to be expected for the location. Probably would have been smarter to eat earlier in Whistler Village or to purchase some food in the village and bring it up with me.
