Denniston Dog Restaurant Bar - Westport

I had a pleasant experience at the Denniston Dog. Our tour leader made the booking ahead of time for our party of 11 and we were seated in the covered patio outside. I ordered a glass of wine and the chicken blt salad. It was pretty good! The chicken wasn't dry and the bacon wasn't too fatty. Both meats were seasoned well. And the portion of salad was large so I was pretty full at the end of my meal. The wine was delicious, too. Service was friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is really casual. It was quiet that night, most likely because it was a Monday. I can imagine it would get busier towards the weekend. Everyone in my group seemed to like their food, so I say give this place a chance if you're in town.

What a shame our party of two were told that they were too busy as there was a big group coming in. Found a lovely pizza place across the road that were ready to serve us instead

Pretty unique experience coming from the states Stone Grill the lamb was good, as it always is in new zealand not too gamey like in other countries green lipped mussels were delicious take the beef off real fast before it overcooks the shrimp takes a while but is tasty with the aoili the sauces were a garlic lemony aioli and some light tempura(? sauce. they were very light on the bland side but still tastey we took the outdoor seating because indoor seating was very stuffy overall not bad, if you're looking for a unique method of having your food cook on a hot stone in front of you, by all means come to this place.

WORST SERVICE EVER!!! If i could give this restaurant no stars i would! Do not go here. We arrived to an almost empty restaurant and asked to sit outside. The girl ummed and ahhhed considering whether or not we could sit down. After saying we could sit down she never brought us menus or asked if we wanted a drink. A few minutes later two guys arrived and another lady greeted them and seated them outside. She took their drinks order and brought their drinks over without even acknowledging us. We asked her if we could get some menus and order two ciders. She said yes but then greeted another group of people entering the restaurant and was chatting away to them for about 5mins (clearly having a Catch up with friends). In all this time we did not receive our drinks or menus and felt so ignored that we had to leave. My mother and i were out for one night in westport and it was ruined by this restaurants TERRIBLE service.
