Located in the Stater Brothers Center on Westminster and Newland is a hidden small place for Vegan Viet Dining. The sign says vegetarian, but I asked a customer and the woman behind the counter and they assured me it was totally vegan. The Meu is hard to read, so this is a place where you need to know what you want before you order. I was blind and ordered bad, but everything was delicious. I ordered 2 types of spring rolls, lemongrass chik'n and Pho. I kind of didn't order a vegetable dish so that the greens in the pho and the spring rolls must be enough. I have to say everything was really good. I especially like the lemongrass chik'n it was really tasteful and had a few kinds of mushrooms. From the 2 spring rolls I ordered the Bo Bia with the fresh carrots and Jicama was my favorite. The portions were really generous and for $35 inclusive tip I fed my home dinner and will also have lunch. The staff was helpful and we did best to work the language barrier; her English is much better than my Viet, so I have no complaints except I should really learn Vietnamese. I'll bring a flowing friend with me when I go.
I used to be a HappyCow ambassador; and I have eaten several times in this restaurant when I can count over the years (long before they moved a few shops over their present location in the same strip-ball). This last visit will be my final. My wife and I brought a friend who visited the city, we ordered 2 different articles. The man server (the same man who worked for ever and who never learned more than a handful of English words) brought us 2 identical dishes. When we asked him why they look the same, he laughed and went away.... He and other employees would occasionally look at us remotely and laugh. Then we found a piece of blue plastic in one of the... I showed it to the server and asked again why he disregarded us. Of course he barely understood. Later we asked for a togo package, and he brought a polystyrene container with a hair in it.... I then wrote what I wanted to tell him about Google Translate in Vietnamese, and he wasn't interested to read it from my phone, so I showed it to another work that went by, she saw about her and pulled her finger down her eyes sarcastically saying boo hoo. Inattentive, plastic and hair in food, they will insult you without killing.... Do not support this waste disposal. Happiness cow should NOT make 2 stars the minimum for a vegetarian / vegan place, it should 1.
Place has good food, if not read Vietnamese you cannot know what food your order, only a few menu items have English descriptions. Second time come and everything I ordered, what great, spring rolls, soups, fish stew. simply delicious and you get really quality food for a good value! More affordable they other vegan Pho seats.
