I verified the address with Open Table and the Joe's Crab Shack website, both of which were accurate. There was no announcement about the closure.
I don't even know where to start with this restaurant. The prices are ridiculously high and the food quality is awful. They charge $12 for a kids' mac and cheese with a prepackaged fruit cup, which is just a box of Kraft macaroni. I ordered a cluster of queen crab legs and they were served ice cold. There were only 2 staff members working and we had to wait over 15 minutes for anything we needed, including paying the bill. The bathrooms were dirty, with paper towels piled up 4ft above the trash can. This place is in such bad shape, I can't believe they're still open. I used to enjoy coming here when I was younger, but I won't be bringing my family back here again.
A1 service!! That's all this place had going for it. The fish and chips were dry and taseless with too much crispy batter that nobody needs to fill up on. So my thoughts are: if your fish doesn't taste good, you should probably offer an AMAZING tarter sauce to cover up for the tasteless fish. Not here. It was mayo. Greasy and flavorless, as well. The crab was great, but anyone can steam crab.... so, I wasn't impressed with the food.
Wow, when you walk in the door and it's a ghost town inside, we sat ourselves after about ten minutes. Maybe a team or shift meeting and nope. The empty parking lot with two cars should have been a sign. Finally two employees came from the back, more customers arrived and they we seated and then more and more and we got the ignore from them. They must be going out soon? We left and went to Salt Grass.
The food was fantastic and the service was even better! Even though I didn't catch her name, the server we had at 7pm on 8/23 really made the dining experience exceptional.
