My wife and I used to walk by this place in 2019 every workday patiently and eagerly expecting a local brewery to open in our town. Being new residents since 2018, coming from the great migration of NYC- Hoboken/Jersey City- Westfield, we couldn’t wait to be able to stroll into a local spot and get to know a growing business. Then COVID hit and things got delayed. After some time it finally opened, and since then it’s been awesome. We brought our daughter there all the time and the whole team is nothing but polite, funny, accommodating and friendly experts in their craft. The taps are always changing and getting better each time. We’ve stopped by for almost every holiday event, and with two kids this is the best place to have the little ones hangout in a safe environment. The board games are great and the outdoor space is the perfect size. Every time we go we meet someone new and make friends along the way. You couldn’t ask for anything better from the “pride” of the south side.
Lions Roar is amazing! Great beer, friendly staff, lots of seating both inside and outside, and most importantly, extremely family friendly! We’ve been bringing my daughter here practically since she was born and there are always several other families with kids of all ages. I’ve always felt very comfortable with my family here and look forward to our Friday beers at Lions Roar all week long.
I recently had a series of disappointing experiences at Lion's Roar due to a confusing policy they have in place. On two occasions, my friends and I, along with our children, were asked to leave at 4:00 in the afternoon because of their "no families" rule. This happened during their "Emo Night" event. I felt extremely disrespected as a paying customer. During my most recent visit, we were told we could only stay if we sat outside and pay a $5 cover charge to see a band that was playing in the back, which we were not allowed to watch. I refused to pay for something I couldn't enjoy, finished my below average beer, and vowed to never return. It's unacceptable for an establishment to kick out loyal customers for no valid reason.
Unfortunately, I’ve had consecutive poor experiences at Lion’s Roar as a direct result of a puzzling establishment policy. Twice now I’ve been kicked out at 4:00 in the afternoon because they have a “no families” policy. I was there with a large group of friends and a couple of our kids and they literally threw us out for something called “Emo Night.” I’ve never been so disrespected as a paying customer in my life. The most recent time they said we could only stay if we sat outside in front of the building. They then demanded we pay the $5 cover for the band that was playing in the back area, which we were not allowed to see. I explained to them that I refuse to pay a cover for a band I was not allowed to see, finished my beer, (all of which are extremely sub-par) and vowed to never return. I will not patronize an establishment that arbitrarily boots my friends and family out after having done nothing but respectfully spend our money there.
