Bad news. We thought that things would improve after their “In die Sop” experience. However, the owner is still not interested. We had burnt jaffles for R90! Owner saw it and wasn't interested. We'll never go there again..

Ridiculous prices!!! R135 for a simple pie serving one person- and it comes with rice and sambals. Where did you ever hear about that!? And despite their add, they only had chicken pies! No clientele there — says a lot! Not worth it unless you want beer only! A rip off!

I have been to The Gaol once before and was disappointed. I saw, In die Sop, the TV program, that they renovated the restaurant. Changed the name to Mill Hops Restaurant. Decided to have brunch there. What a utterly devastating experience. Had a Chicken Mayo Jaffle with salad. I saw my husband cutting all the burnt edges off his jaffle, so checked mine and turned it over. Completely burnt. Had to send it back. Blocks of Chicken was swamped with mayo. They added some weird yucky tasting chees … – show

This was a very strange experience. We waited for someone to atend to us and athletes end we only had coffee tee. The rest was too pricey.

While passing through Swellendam we stopped for breakfast and it was certainly a good option. We enjoyed the breakfast and the atmosphere. The made a fire especially for us. The waitress was super friendly and quick. The food was really good and it was a worth while stop.
