Secret Garden - Westerly

I have been eating here about once every 6 months, each time hoping the food will be better but it isn’t. I ordered crab cakes which were, with the exception of a crisp top and bottom, mushy and wet. The Butternut squash soup was heavy on the dairy and thickener and light on squash resulting in a blandness in taste and color thus I didn’t finish it. My friends ordered salads with various proteins on the side and they were all just average. Our lunch bill for the above items plus 1 iced tea and two mocktails was $168 dollars, before the tip. While the environment was lovely and the staff attentive, this food is not worth the money. It’s sister hotel that is not far away, the Weekapaug Inn, has better food. So unless you are going to the Ocean House just to experience the view and the interesting building or to placate the curiosity of out of town friends, go to the Weekapaug Inn for lunch or dinner. It too is on the water and it’s really charming.

Needs better management of staff and speed of service

The Ocean House is a five star gem, located on the Atlantic Ocean in Rhode Island. The rooms, service, food, and ambience are top notch. If you are looking for a getaway for a weekend or a full week, try the Ocean House. You will probably go back every year for the rest of your life.

The Ocean House is an incredible blend of elegance, charm and luxury right on the beach. Our visit was not short of perfection. We stayed in the month of March and enjoyed delicious food and excellent service. From before we arrived, Cesar was in contact to see if there is something we could arrange before our stay. On arrival we were greeted by an incredible staff. The house is not less than warm, comfortable and large at the same time. The Morgan Suite, where stayed, was renovated to perfection with incredible attention to detail and surfaces. The rooms in the suite were friendly and incredibly comfortable at the same time. In the lively ambience of Bistro restaurant we enjoy a delicious dinner. Cesar was very attentive to all our needs during the stay. I enjoyed a morning pilates course and swamps in the beautiful pool. There are activities for people of all ages and the environment is ideal for a romantic holiday or a family time. This is the type of resort where customers return year after year. I can see why.
