Captain Steve's Seafood - Westerly

We visited the Charlotte AutoFair and was trying to find somewhere nice to eat. Our favorite Cajun restaurant nearby just isn’t what it used to be. So using TripAdvisor’s recommendation we came here. Food was great, and a very special shout out to Mason who took care of us. Super service.

Went to location in Charlotte for years, always enjoyable experience. That was 10 years ago when living in area. I tried this location in Harrisburg today and was let down. Service good, prices good, food below to average . The other thing that surprised me was charging 50 cents for Togo cup (pouring contents from glass on table) and then charging 3.5 percent convenience fee for paying with card. Nothing was displayed on menu or by wait staff for fees. I will not return to this restaurant, too many other restaurants competing for your dollar, and not hiding fees surprising customer when paying check.

Had dinner here last night and had to wait 10 minutes, which wasn't bad for a Saturday night. I ordered the small fried flounder without skin and it was ok. Usually much better, but maybe an off night. Other person ordered the jumbo shrimp and was delicious. We had a new waitress and she was great. So, great service, an average meal and minimal wait around 8:00pm.

We have eaten at Captain Steve’s many times over the years but tonight’s experience make us question if we’ll ever return. First off, it was our anniversary. We got there at 5:45 ordered a couple of appetizers. After waiting about 20 minutes I asked the waitress to bring out the boiled shrimp, which usually only takes a couple of minutes because we were waiting a ridiculously long time. She then informed us that they dropped our chicken wing order and she had to replace the order. She said they would be out in 10 more minutes, they came out in 25 minutes. They were inedible as they were way over cooked. We had the return them. Needless to say we were not happy. We ordered our dinners and had another endless wait just to get our salads, which usually come right out. I had to tell our waitress, do not bring our our food while we were eating our salads. The table behind us got their food before their salads. Food was good, but not great. Service was not good, extremely slow! Manager never came out to see us. Plus they tried to overcharge on a special, so they had to redo the check. I am not sure if we’ll be going back after tonight’s disaster! There is no excuse for what happened tonight.

Had a lunch with some coworkers. Good food, and a lovely service from the server as well as the person that led us to the table.
