To my fellow celiacs: do not come here! The menu only lists a few gluten-free options. I ordered the tuna Poke labeled as gluten-free. I made sure to ask the server if the soy sauce and tortillas were truly gluten-free, as I have celiac disease. They checked with the kitchen and reassured me that they were safe for me to eat. Despite feeling hesitant, I went ahead and ate my meal. Two days later, I had a severe reaction. When I called to speak to the manager, I learned that their homemade tortilla chips are fried in the same oil as other gluten-containing items, and the soy sauce on the dish is not gluten-free. Both the manager and staff were uninformed about allergens and celiac disease. I insisted that they educate themselves and remove all gluten-free labels, as this could be dangerous. Unfortunately, it seems like this won't be happening.
To my fellow individuals with celiac disease: please avoid eating at this restaurant! The menu lists a few dishes as gluten-free, including the tuna Poke that I ordered. I specifically asked the server to confirm that the soy sauce and tortillas were indeed gluten-free, as I have celiac disease for medical reasons. The kitchen assured me that they were gluten-free, but unfortunately, I later found out that the house-made tortilla chips are fried in the same fryer as other gluten-containing items and the soy sauce on the fish is not gluten-free. Both the manager and staff were unaware of allergens and celiac disease. I informed them of the dangers and suggested they remove all gluten-free labeling until they are better informed. Unfortunately, I doubt they will take this advice.
This is a great place to visit with your family and pets. You can also enjoy the beautiful sunlight in the afternoon and ambient music.
The Boatshed Ambleside offers a unique dining experience with a beautiful beach view and delicious food. They have both summer and winter setups, allowing for year-round outdoor dining. We ordered Baja Fish tacos ($15), Parmesan Truffle Fries ($8), Fish and Chips ($22), and the Chef's Seasonal Salad with Grilled Chicken ($16). The restaurant has plenty of free parking available, but it can vary depending on the day and time. The food and ambiance both receive a perfect 5/5 rating, as the restaurant is located right by the beach, allowing patrons to enjoy the scenery and cool breeze year-round. However, the service is minimal here, with patrons ordering at the counter and self-serving for water and utensils.
