The staff was extremely friendly and it is best to make reservations. I had the fish and chips while my companion had the turkey sandwich, both of which were excellent. The fish was lightly crispy on the outside and the bread was delicious. The coleslaw had a unique taste, almost like vinegar, which I personally did not enjoy. However, the turkey sandwich was really good with tender meat and lots of flavor. The chips were also very tasty. For dessert, we had the brown sugar cake with vanilla ice cream for coffee and it was really good. OMG, highly recommended.
Located in the heart of the Berkshires, Landmark Hotel is a well-maintained and clean establishment with a historical colonial atmosphere. The lobby is beautiful with a majestic fireplace. Below, there is a tapas bar with live entertainment and great food and drinks, while the legendary white tablecloth dining room above offers farm-to-market cuisine. The kitchen is amazing and you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. It's a place you'll want to come back to again and again!
My stay at the hotel from 10/9-10/12 was unfortunately disappointing compared to past pleasant experiences. The entire property, including the village houses, appeared worn out with chipped paint and overall lack of maintenance. The hotel's red carpet was filthy with dirt, setting a negative tone upon arrival. The interior of the old inn displayed tattered curtains, lack of cleanliness, and long wait times for meals. Despite staying in various rooms in the main inn and village houses before, my recent stay at Maple Glen was the worst. Promised as a new accommodation, it turned out to be an old 1840 house with small, uncomfortable rooms, inadequate lighting, and hard beds. The painted floors were appealing, but tarnished from lack of cleanliness. The furniture seemed like hand-me-downs, paired with damaged lampshades and a random refrigerator in the room. The dark color scheme made the room appear dim and cramped, while the layout was inconvenient. The bathroom was functional with heated floors, but overall, the service was lacking. Dining options were not as expected, with outdoor reservations being accepted instead of honoring inn preferences. With no help, housekeeping, or even coffee available in Maple Glen, I cannot recommend this experience. It was a major letdown after so much anticipation for a great stay.
Before today I would have given this place 5 stars and a luminous review. We stopped on the way. It was my first time. I wanted to treat her for lunch. We waited half an hour for our table. It's busy and I understand. When we sat, we found out that the tavern menu was the same as the main dining room. It was good for me and my older daughter, but my younger daughter has some food restrictions that she usually had with most menus, but not the extremely limited one she had. I asked if they were other options we could manage. There wasn't anything. If we were willing to work as well as possible. However, the server was extremely rude over the entire situation. To the point my daughters and I didn't feel comfortable. The Main Street Café just half a block down is wonderful. Go.
Inn is old. That is the charm. Full of history, character, antiques, etc. Common areas are rather dark. Food and service in the main dining room was outstanding. They get 2 stars because of the rooms. Definitely not worth $400 per night. Being old doesn't justify old, worn, tired, gross carpet; horrible cushions on all in room furniture, you just sink down; cracking wallpaper, etc. Also the road next to the west side had noisy truck traffic all night. Significant maintenance is needed around windows. I recommend going for lunch/tea on the terrace or afternoon wine on the terrace followed by dinner. Stay somewhere else.
