However, we were disappointed to discover that all the chocolates they offer are now imported from Belgium. It is frustrating that the owners of the business have not taken the effort to accurately update their information.
After visiting the castle, I stopped by this shop and bought a few pieces of chocolate to take with me on the road. They also had ice cream available, but I was in a rush (since you need to plan and book ahead of time) so I didn't get any. Some of the chocolates didn't have labels, but the lady working there was able to provide the information. It's a charming little shop that sells sweets and souvenirs.
I was served by a very helpful and friendly young man who recommended all the chocolates to me. His suggestion was spot on, as I ended up purchasing a large quantity and sharing them with my friend. The chocolates were absolutely delicious. Thank you.
The first things you notice when you step inside the building are the lovely array of chocolates. However this is only half the story as the remainder of it is a real tea shop. The luscious homemade cakes (I indulged in a chocolate and cream one) are too tempting to resist and the tea is served in a proper tea pot on a tray, complete with milk and sugar. It's all reasonably priced too as we paid £10 for a pot of tea for two along with slices of cake. We were tempted to buy some of the chocolates and my sister did purchase a home made cushion. While there we struck up an interesting conversation with the friendly Canadian owner, also called Wendy, who has travelled extensively in Europe. We totally enjoyed our visit and hope to be back when we're next passing through the beautiful village of Dunster. Had some of the other cafes been open for business we would have missed out on this delightful one. Ensure you don't.
Ran into this little spot after a hot day walking around the castle. Once we saw the big ice cream selection of I believe Myrtle's Ice Cream Parlour? through the window, we were sucked right in (2 minutes before closing, sorry . Anyhow, the lady who served was the sweetest and the ice cream was amazing! I'm sure my baby boy was happy that it was his first ice cream ever:
