Alcombe Tandoori - West Somerset

We decided to share our positive experience after reading some negative reviews. We arrived around 6pm to find the restaurant empty, which made us a bit cautious. However, it quickly filled up and we noticed some repeat customers being warmly greeted by the staff, as well as some takeout orders being picked up - always a good sign! Our meal was delicious, the service was fast, and the prices were reasonable. There was a small mistake when we were charged for 4 poppadoms instead of the 2 we had ordered, but we didn't bring it up. We would definitely come back when we stay at the Caravan and Motorhome club site, just a 5-minute walk away.

We called beforehand to see if they could cater for a nut allergy only to have the phone put down on us. Absolutely disgusting. Lost out on a party of 9 guests. As you can see from the reviews that it’s says for itself. Obviously didn’t want the custom and couldn’t be bothered to help with allergy’s .

The food was fantastic and some lovely different dishes on the Chef’s Signature menu. The mussels to start were superb and the flavours worked really well. We both had Salmon for our main course and it was well cooked and again lovely flavours. The peshwari naan was the best I have ever had so light and fluffy and the coconut delicate. We shared a lemon rice which was not overpowering and portion size was more than enough for the 2 of us. Had a lovely Rioja which worked well with the flavours and reasonably priced too. Service was attentive and not overbearing. Restaurant modern in style. Would definitely return if we were in the area.

While staying in Dunster for the week, my partner and I decided to get takeout on our last night. We ordered chicken balti, rice, and chips. I felt compelled to write this review as I had seen some negative reviews. The staff were incredibly friendly and the food was top-notch - the portions were generous and everything was cooked beautifully. When I placed my order, there were a few other diners in the restaurant and within 15 minutes of picking up our food, more customers had arrived. The dining area and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant were immaculate. I highly recommend paying a visit - you won't be disappointed.
