The fries were cut relatively thin—not as thin as shoestring fries, but about the same thickness as those from In-N-Out. The portion size is definitely enough for two people, and they topped it generously. The seasoned carne asada was diced into small pieces, adding to the overall flavor. Additionally, they offered a complimentary chips and salsa station, which is always a nice perk. The cashier and kitchen staff were friendly and attentive, enhancing the overall experience.
The drive-thru system requires you to call in your order first and then pick it up, which actually works out great for me because I can look a total mess and still get my Mexican food fix without stepping inside the restaurant. The service has always been excellent; my orders have consistently been ready on time. I’m so happy that Oscar's is nearby—it’s now my go-to spot whenever I crave Mexican food!
My son and I decided to check out this restaurant and originally planned to use the drive-thru, but we noticed a sign indicating that they only accept phone orders. So, we parked and went inside. We ordered three carne asada tacos and a carnitas burrito to take away. While we waited, we found a variety of salsas, pickled jalapeños, limes, and tortilla chips available for us to enjoy. It wasn't long before our food was ready. We grabbed the bag and decided to have a quick bite in the car before heading out. I have to say, they are very generous with the meat—there was plenty spilling out with each bite! The carnitas burrito came with just meat, guacamole, and pico de gallo, so if you want a fully loaded option, you'll need to get the Super Burrito. Overall, we will definitely be ordering from here again. The restaurant was clean, and the service was good. Sorry, I didn't take any pictures, but I’ll be sure to next time!
I visited Oscar's Very Mexican YEARS back for a breakfast burrito that I remembered being pretty good, but hadn't been back since, despite driving by its West Sacramento and Land Park locations all the time. I went in yesterday evening with excitement to try it out again, as I remembered the breakfast burrito being pretty solid! I got there around 5:30 and aside from one other person there, things were pretty slow. I noticed a menu upon entrance, which was a little hard to read. Some items were taken off, prices were put on with stickers and contradicted other pricing elsewhere, and it seemed like the menu overall was in need of an update. Another thing, the menu wasn't in eyesight of the cash register stand, so I realized I had to decide my order heading to the cashier. The way this was displayed also made it so no one working saw me come in. Just kind of an awkward set up. Once I got to the cash register, the cashier was very friendly and I ordered a supreme quesadilla (comes with carne asada, guacamole, and sour cream), a large soda, and a cream filled churro. She gave me the soda cup and I filled it with Diet Coke and headed to the salsa bar to grab some chips and salsa. There were four varieties of salsa available along with pickled jalapeños. All good here! Chips were fairly standard but I munched on chips and salsa as I waited for my quesadilla, which didn't take long. The quesadilla was generously portioned, but was a little underwhelming, otherwise. Not sure why, but there just wasn't a ton of flavor there for me. I tried the carne asada on its own and it was pretty good! So something between the cheese, sour cream, and guac was weighing it down. Maybe the rest just wasn't well seasoned? Not sure. It came out quick and again was generously portioned, but I wouldn't get this again. Nothing was wrong with it, but it just wasn't good enough to order again. I definitely felt a little disappointed here and wished I had gotten something else, but a quesadilla just sounded good at the moment. The churro, on the other hand, was great! Lots of cinnamon, filled with cream, and piping hot! Also, very inexpensive at less than $2. I'd stop by just for the churro if I were driving by and in the mood for something sweet. I asked the cashier for a box and bag to take half of my quesadilla home in, refilled my Diet Coke, and left. The cashier thanked me and was on my way. From what I remember about the breakfast burritos, it seems like breakfast is the way to go here. That said, some menu and ambience changes could go a long way here. I live close by so I'd love for Oscar's to be a spot I visited more frequently, but I'm not sold yet based off off the quesadilla alone.
I love their tacos ! very big and fit a good price, staff is friendly and usually are slow. food is bomb and flavorful, i would definitely recommend eating inside.
