I was a little peckish at lunchtime. had to ring the bell (stamped ring for a lazy, since nobody was on the switch. the dame came into eating something with food still in her mouth while she spoke, suddenly wondering whether we used a door further down the tee room; after the statement we had told her again abruptly, how we expected that they heard us unless we used the door to the counter. nothing on a door said that! I ignore what we ordered. I asked if they sold sandwiches, what followed was the worst case of customer service I've ever told. when they ask, they don't sell sandwiches. again we tried to ignore this in order to continue to order. I discovered some castors on the switch that were asked for one. I couldn't believe it when she asked if I had pre-ordered, not fully understand what she meant, I had a little more probe, in which she said, I would have called the day before to order in advance. we've got teacakes. nothing is wrong. this would be a nice little place to stop while on a landing, if it is not for the terrible dame behind the theke. unnecessary to say, will not be revisiting; could be a really nice place to relax one because.
I visited Torksey Curly primarily to take photos, but decided to have a cup of tea while I was there. Despite the negative reviews I had read about the tea room, I decided to give it a chance. Unfortunately, the reviews were accurate. When we entered, the woman behind the counter gave us a disdainful look, as if we were intruding in her personal space. We politely ordered coffee and two teas, and I inquired about gluten-free options. She rudely pointed to some leftover pie crumbs and said that was all they had. I declined and opted for a packaged snack instead. When my dad went to pay and asked if they accepted cards, the woman angrily informed us that they only accepted cash, citing a 40p transaction fee from the bank. She made it clear that they had never accepted cards in the 10 years they had been operating and never would. As we sat down, my mom's phone rang and the woman immediately scolded us for using a mobile phone in the tea room, pointing to a sign on the door. My dad retorted that the sign said 'please do not', not 'do not do not', to which the woman dismissively replied that it was for their regular customers. We decided to leave shortly after, feeling unwelcome and disrespected. The tea was weak and the cake looked stale. The overall atmosphere was unwelcoming and it's baffling why they would run a café if they harbor such disdain for customers. I will not be returning.
Had not as far as eating or drinking as the lady behind the counter was completely hostile to the moment when I came in.
Having called for a drink on our way home, we were greated by the most unfriendly service we have ever had. When I asked for a menu I was told there wasn 't one and the few shabby, broken bits of cake was all that what...was available. We were told to order drinks first and not fancying any cake I had a packet of walkers crinkle crisps which were actually part of a multi pack. My partner had a piece of the best looking cake which was coffee and walnut and he ate only half. During this time we were rudely told to remove the dog from the doorway as customers didn 't like it.... On returning the tray inside, he was rudely asked What was the matter with the cake . I have never been served by someone with such a rude manner.
