Zak's Restaurant - WEST LAKES

I've previously reviewed this restaurant positively but our recent visit was a bit disappointing. We waited a long time for both our mains and desserts and when it the food was OK rather than good or better and the place just felt tired. It's always been a large space but it now just looks unloved. The aspect on the lake is exceptional but the operators seems to be taking their custom for granted.

One and a half hours and still waiting for our main meal. It took over an hour to get our entree after we asked twice.

Honest Tucker and plenty of it. Mums were happy with their lot. Busy and packed but still served better than some places with less. Been here 4 times in the last 2 years and never left disappointed. Kaliorexi.

Located on the lake definitely a amazing location. The food was okay but for the price would like something more than okay.

It was cold and dark when we arrived and so we could not see the water. We were seated in the main spacious restaurant where it was thought to be warmer. We checked out the patio area which was enclosed with perspex roller blinds and gas heaters waiting to be lit and the lighting was far more subdued so we asked to be re-seated. This was not a problem and swiftly executed. We chatted to the chef who was very helpful. I ordered a spanakopita (spinach and feta in filo) and Garrides (prawns) as entrees (I shared). Both were good. My husband ordered the moussaka, which was specially made by a local lady, and was fresh and tasty. Our dinner guest ordered the scotch fillet, medium, with mushroom sauce and he enjoyed that. Two of us shared the baklava which was also fresh and good. The chef checked to see that everything was o.k. with the food. The waiters were a little confused and seemed to muddle up the orders for us and other diners but it was all sorted favourably. The restaurant is fairly spartan and lacks atmosphere but we had an enjoyable dining experience. It would be a pleasant spot overlooking the lake on a nice day.
