They were so hot, and we couldn't find out why. we called the restaurant and spoke to the owner. we told her how hot they were, and she said it was because of the spicy salsa. I told her I couldn't eat it and it literally burned my mouth. then she said, "Nun, if they order it mild next time. my friend paid a lot for this food, and she wouldn't replace it. this ingredient is not on the menu, as we knew. I am not very happy so that the buyer is willing to order from this restaurant.
Too authentic, mainly over priced, greasy, not fresh under seasoned
We went to La Aldea for the first time. I had actually ordered online a month or so ago, and had gotten excellent food, real Mexican, although I got a ful burrito instead of the Bowl Burrito I had ordered. It was so yummy though, that I was looking forward to eating there. My daughter ordered the Arroz Con Pollo, and I the Bowl Burriito, trying for a re-do of my past online order. This came as a little shredded iceberg lettuce, a few tomato pieces, a few shreds of cheese, and about a teaspoon of sour cream. It was supposed to have beans. I later asked where the beans were, and she had to look at the menu, then brought me some beans (and later charged extra for them). There were also a lot of tortilla chips on my plate. My daughter's Arroz Con Pollo was turmeric rice, topped with chicken in the middle of the plate, and some cheese. We also received some warm corn tortillas, salsa, and some hot sauces. It was very skimpy and somewhat tasteless, without dressing for the salad. I paid at least a couple dollars too much for the bill. I hate when restaurants don't know what they are doing and still make a few extra dollars. I gave a good cash tip anyway. Don't go here.
The food was amazing! As a Mexican student at Purdue, I was so happy to find a place that gave me a little piece of home. I'd recommend the tacos, chilaquiles, the horchata (Mexican rice milk drink), and the green salsa. Remember to put lime on your tacos for an extra bit of freshness and juiciness!
Amazing authentic food, friendly owners, and good ambience!
