A small strip mall restaurant near my home. Hesitated to try it as it appeared not busy, not classy, etc. However, desperate for Chinese one night, did a take-out of Chicken/broccoli/dark sauce and pork fried rice. SURPRISE. the food was as good Chinese as i have ever had! Will be back weekly.
I was looking for late lunch and stopped in this shopping Plaza, initially looking for a quick slice of pizza. The pizza place had several people waiting to be seated so I quickly left. The fancy hamburger joint next door was just too complicated to order. You had to fill out a slip of paper indicating what you wanted and your choices and then submit it to the cashier. I noted several customers waiting at tables holding slips in their hand. I then dropped into this Chinese take-out place. It has the typical neon menu above the counter with colored photographs of the different meals. I ordered a pint of shrimp fried rice for $4.95. It came quickly. Service was quick and friendly. The place seemed very clean. My lunch was quite good. It had an abundant amount of shrimp, Rice was lightly flavored with soy sauce. It was not greasy. I would recommend this as a quick noonday lunch or a takeout for home. The restaurant also has several vegetarian and vegan dishes. It also advertises gluten free food.
Triple Star is a little hole-in-the-wall Chinese food restaurant that does a big carry-out and delivery business. Customers can also dine there, but the seating area is very run-down, with broken seats in the booths, and though the tables are generally clean, sometimes the dirty blinds or walls can be a little unappetising. Triple Star has a large menu full of favorites, and most of their food is tasty. Generally, the food is decently prepared: food is cut into the right size, produce is decent quality, and the sauces are good. There are two caveats. First, it's not fine dining or the same quality that you would find in Cheng Du, for example, where the flavors are more sophisticated and the overall quality is higher. Second, on two occasions, I found foreign objects in the food (a bit of plastic from a lid and a little piece of metal from a dish scrubber). This, however, was in the course of ordering perhaps fifty times from them, so it's not a rampant problem. If you're looking for a quick lunch or on-the-way-home dinner pick-up, give Triple Star a try.
Great food, good portions, reasonable prices. Love the beef with eggplant and the chicken with broccoli. Good takeout service
