Prime West Des Moines

Since they have just opened, I'm willing to give them a second chance, but I think I'll wait until things have settled down. Our server seemed overwhelmed and struggled to keep up with everything. We waited at least 10 minutes just to get water, and she wasn't familiar with the menu. The food was, at best, mediocre. The salad dressing was supposed to be creamy Parmesan, but it tasted like plain mayonnaise, and the greens were wilted. The chicken sandwich was overcooked and dry, and the French fries were lukewarm. Our requests for additional items went unanswered.

The filet and aged ribeye were cooked to perfection, medium rare. The champion sauce on the ribeye was a fantastic touch, and the filet had an Oscar-style preparation!

Short version: some hiccups, but probably because they are relatiw new and still their foot. worth a second visit. longer version: this is a newer steak house in west of the moines. menu is quite standard steakhouse evening, solid but nothing particularly inventive. the appetizer of the deviled egg selection was delicious and interesting, but salate were forgotten. steaks were well cooked and properly cooked, but the sides of the green beans and pommes were boring. there were other pages on the menu on a la carte basis, but our server did not ask if we wanted to replace one of them. service was a mixed bag. we had a reservation. when we arrived, there was no host. a waiter told us to wait, then a few minutes later brought us to a table. we had to take a drink menu from a memorable. it took almost ten minutes until our waitress welcomed us. after that there were long delays in getting our cocktails, apps and entrees. our waitress was very friendly and cheerful, only wished that she was more attentive and moved the things with a typical tempo. the dinner lasted two hours when we expected it to be an hour or so, although it was not a first-class experience, it was still a good evening meal. we will come back to give them a second look.

Perfect evening from the moment we arrived. Service was attentive and not intrusive. The filet was one of the best we've had in Des Moines and the truffle butter was the perfect accompaniment. The attention to the quality of the food was apparent.
