It’s baffling how some people take jobs that are known to be busy, only to express frustration when they are, in fact, busy. As for the food, the burger was merely average. The seasoning was almost off-putting, yet not quite. On a positive note, the crinkle-cut fries were pleasantly crunchy. However, they seem to employ a clever, albeit frustrating tactic by not refilling soft drinks, which encourages customers to purchase large sizes. They tend to blame it on COVID, but it's hard to see how refilling a drink is risky when they're pouring tea and water from pitchers. Additionally, the Pepsi tasted flat and lackluster. It's surprising given that Coke is the most popular soft drink globally—surely they could adjust with the times. In the end, while it was acceptable if you're looking for fast food, I had built Whataburger up in my mind to be something extraordinary, which led to my own disappointment. I’m giving it 4 stars, though, because it wasn't terrible—just decent. I guess I just had unrealistic expectations for what I thought would be the best fast-food place ever. It was good, just not what I hoped for.
I've been living in and around Columbia for about 15 years, and I recently had the pleasure of dining at What a Burger for the first time. I must say, it exceeded my expectations! The burgers, in particular, can compete with any I've tried in the area. The condiments—lettuce and tomato—were fresh and not overly soggy, the bun was delightfully soft, and the patty was flawless. I also ordered a catfish basket, which was not only delicious but also very generously portioned. My total for two burger baskets (including burgers, fries, and drinks) and the catfish basket (with catfish and fries, no drink) came to about $23. The service was polite, though a tad slow; however, it's understandable when everything is clearly made to order. The only reason I didn't give this a full 5 stars is that they serve crinkle-cut fries, which aren't my favorite. Nonetheless, they were well-prepared without the sogginess or cold centers that you sometimes encounter. I give it four stars and highly recommend checking it out!
The Philly cheesesteak was delicious, served with fresh lettuce and tomatoes. The hoagie roll was soft yet sturdy enough to hold everything together. My daughter absolutely loved her double Whataburger and gave it a perfect five-star rating! I can't wait to go back and try it myself. The fries, however, were a bit bland and could have been cooked a little longer. I upgraded my combo size, but I didn't end up with more fries, and honestly, I didn't finish what I had. The hot dog was decent, but I like my fried okra crispy, and I didn’t mention it, so they were slightly undercooked. The chicken tenders were tasty. My daughter didn’t say anything about the cheese sticks, so I’m assuming they were good too!
The atmosphere is peaceful, with a steady flow of customers coming and going. The fish fillet burger was excellent.
I had a burger and fries, and they were fantastic! I absolutely love this place; the food is amazing. I highly recommend stopping by!
