Let's start with the only positive, the stuffed mushrooms were delicious although expensive at $17 for 4! After that the evening seriously disintegrated . We waited 30 minutes for hard, tasteless potato croquettes, brown tasteless Arancini then another 60 minutes for mains. The gnocchi Gorgonzola had obviously been sitting on the counter as it had developed a skin on the sauce! The Amatriciana Ragu was justvwarm and apart from a few pieces of burnt bacon was tasteless , this was sent back and returned steaming from being microwaved. The eggplant stack was the worst as it was frozen in the middle!! This was returned to the kitchen and a smaller portion was returned after a wait of 30 minutes. We also had 2 Aperol spritzer which were mainly ice plus 2 Coronas, the bill was $178.....Outrageous. DO NOT VISIT.

This cafe is a good find. We had a Sunday morning breakfast and the food was very nice. Sitting at a Formica table brings back childhood memories for both of us and the general atmosphere of the cafe is relaxed.
A short walk from the sea and sand is Café Salsa at West Beach. With new owners, brother and sister duo Lance and Tanya Scopocasa along with best friend Natalie Baker, they’ve relaunched the 30-year-old landmark.Walking in, Café Salsa has a comfortable relaxed atmosphere featuring bamboo, palms and retro furniture.I'm a big fan of Pimms and their Pimms Cup were on point. Along with the 'Salsa Sun' - a generous mix of blood orange and vodka.Head chef Joe Cazzetta had created an Italian inspired menu which began with arancini balls with pea and parmesan, the white bait was salt and pepper floured, crunchy and fishy, served with tartare sauce; and the stuffed mushrooms with provolone cheese, chilli, garlic and parsley were very meaty. For mains: Gnocchi salsiccia – pork sausage, chilli, capsicum, cherry tomatoes, finished with a rich tomato sugo; Cassarecce granchio – WA crab deglazed in white wine with cherry tomatoes in a rose sauce; Pappardelle Vegitana with zucchini, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, capsicum, garlic, parsley
Recently taken over by a lovely lady who also was one of our wait staff, this used to be mexican (hence the name) but now is serving very authentic Italian. This place ticked all the boxes for me. The Sunday we went an acoustic duo played some chilled tunes, the winter sun shone in, the wait staff friendly and attentive and the food.....mmm sooo good. Reasonably priced too. With a bottle of good red wine, we stayed for hours.
