If you are a beer geek like myself, then this is pretty much the only place on your radar in Weimar. Up a hill, just off the centre of the city, this is a...
Location A bit outside Weimar, behind the old town, the steep Humboldtstraße up you will find the Erste Thüringer Gasthausbrauerei Felsenkeller. The restaurant with its burial character is lovingly built like a castle complex. The undfiltered Deinhardt-Bräu has been brewed here since 1885. There is approx. 10 parking spaces in front of the house. Ambiente The rock cellar with its 170 seats offers the ideal setting for celebrations or just to enjoy a cool beer in a rustic atmosphere. The restaurant is also a brewhouse. The two copper boilers in the middle of the room, the golden ceiling ornament over a round seat group and the black-related leather wood chairs give the slender area an atmospheric host house ambience. The windows decorate very beautiful glass painting motifs. The cultivated conservatory is bright and friendly with its large glass fronts. Service Friendly, fleeting and attentive service staff. Food and drink On the menu is the good-bourgeois cuisine of Thuringian and the home-baked beer, beside seasonal dishes. We decide for the seasoning meat with garlic baguett (6,10 €). It came in a cup, hot with a thick layer of cheese baked. The beer meat was so fibrous that it was possible to enjoy it with pebbles and spoons. Very good taste. The second choice was not wrong. Wild boar roast with rose cabbage and lumps (14,30 €). On the plate were two tranches of wild boar roast from the end piece. I would have liked more of the delicate meat. On the other hand, I was compensated with enough cauliflowers, which was not bad either. He had nice bites and was pleasing. The two dumplings were loose and liked to pick up the sauce. The highlight was the dessert. Fine beer with black beer syrup and the beer line „ Felsenkeller“ (made from the brewed beers (5.30 €). Conclusion: Excellent natural cuisine.
