I saw this place as i was exploring the mall. It's fairly new but there was definitely a lot of good food options. We decided to check out the bbq place as they have daily specials and got the fried chicken poutine. Surprisingly it was really good. It's probably one of the better poutines I had in a while. A good amount of gravy and cheese curds as well as the chicken was still crispy as well as the fries. For the price, it was a generous portion as well. We also got a kombucha from a nearby drink place and thought that was standard, nothing too exciting It's weird that they have this food area as well as a food court area too so make sure you go to the right place
Great selection of more local trendier food vs the typical food court big food chain variety. You'll find most make their food on site. Some of my fav go to's in this section are: Patties Express (the line up goes fast) spicy chicken veggie patties are avail, aside from traditional beef BROD (compact version of Danish Pastry House) coconut vanilla cake, almond paste chocolate triangles Ray Woodeys Craft Chippery potato chip flavours change, they've got taro chips too **** I love their vegan soft serve The Pie Commission perfect portable meals Find me on Instagram @aida.loves
This place was a lifesaver tonight! After a disappointing experience somewhere else we luckily found this GEM nearby and popped in. TEAM IS AMAZING. FOOD was delicious. If you love spicy food the chicken friend rice is fantastic. I also can't say enough how friendly and amazing the staff is. I'm coming back over and over for that friend rice! ????
For a few years, I have been meaning to check out The Food District. I work in Mississauga, so the probability of coming over here seemed high at the time. Nope. My workplace is closer to the airport and Etobicoke. There have been so many decent places to eat that my colleagues and I would stay in these areas. The pandemic happened and we have all worked from home since. It has been two years since I last visited Square One. As of late, I have been back twice in a week. Crazy! My most recent visit was for a Yelp elite experience at this mall. Since the place didn't have any seating, I suggested that my friend and I try The Food District to find spots. There had to be some and I secretly wanted to visit The Food District! It's a cross between a food hall and a food court. I love food halls because you get more specialized businesses under one roof, which means more sampling. It's also the mall's food court, but a nicer version of a typical one. We snagged a table with stools in the Food City area, which is almost in the centre of the place, but slightly closer to the mall entrance. Tables were distanced nicely such that we felt safe and we couldn't hear any conversations other than our own. The Pie Commission was just behind us. I was looking to grab some dinner and loved the pies at its Etobicoke location. Sadly, it was out of commission last Friday night. Ugh! Their savoury and dessert pies are phenomenal. Instead, I got a patties combo from Patties Express. I have a friend whose go-to patty place is this one. There are locations in Toronto, but it was nice that I got to try them out here. The mild and spicy beef patties that I had were delicious. I am salivating as I reminisce about how yummy they were and how quickly I devoured them. My friend and I admired the Blooming Cotton Candy cart. The place makes cute duck, bunny, and bear-shaped cotton candy. My heart was set on getting dinner than dessert, so I will return to get one because I love cotton candy and it's the closest experience at any fair that I will get this year. I also enjoyed looking at floral arrangements at Blossom Moments. Their rose bears stood out, with each bear in its own display case. If you don't want to gift me a $65 small rose bear, I'll gladly receive an $8 spider plant. I'm not picky. The plants and flowers are so pretty and healthy here. There are tons of eateries that I still haven't fully discovered, from BROD (a spinoff of Danish Pastry House) to Tao Tea Leaf (it took so much willpower to not go in this store and to focus on getting dinner). I will definitely return. I had a great experience eating and getting patties here that I want more. (390)
