Glass Onion - Weaverville

This place was perfect for food and table service. However, one person in our party had about 80% of their pasta dish left when they asked for a to-go container. What came back was a tiny container that held a small amount of what was left on the plate. Where did the rest go?? Why would you not either have larger containers or use multiple to send people home with their full portion they paid for? Also ordered the strawberry shortcake to go. I saw what others had been served and it looked great. Again, what I was given was tiny in comparison due to the container and I didn't realize that was the case until I opened the bag at home to enjoy it. It was also very soggy and contained strips of basil... Odd choice for what you're calling strawberry shortcake. This strange policy of giving small to-go containers and not the full portion the customer paid for really soured me to the otherwise excellent experience.

It was my first time at Glass Onion. My first impression was that it was crowded and noisy. The ambience was friendly and the service was excellent. The capresse had no basil, just other greens. When we asked for fresh basil the waitress brought it right away. My partners had the trout which she declared was excellent. I had angel hair with shrimp and sausage, which was excellent. However, while the shrimp was pretty, it added nothing to the dish. I would order it again with no shrimp and extra sausage. The noise level was very high, but we were able to converse at the table for two even with my bad hearing.

We love dining at Glass Onion! The food is always so very delicious, the service is excellent and the decor is lovely. I especially enjoy the trout entree and my husband's favorite is the house made fettuccini . Every dish we've had there has been wonderful.

I ordered the pear soup and it was closer to a consistency of apple sauce. The flavor was fine. The fish special was cooked perfectly yet overly salted. The service was tremendous. Overall I felt the value was not quite worth the price but the time with friends was invaluable.

Glass Onion is always a win whether it's for a celebration or dinner with friends. (But then again, aren't friends always a reason to celebrate? . The food is always spectacular, service is wonderful and the ambiance is delightful. One of our very favorite places to eat and experience.
