I celebrated my birthday dinner with my family. the food was beautiful and also looked stunning. the personal was friendly. the lookout about the downs on the sea are amazing and we would like to visit again in the summer to make full use of.
Mother’s Day lunch after year lock down…first outing..,service arrogant and unfriendly…food my mother could cook better…looking forward to her Guinea Foul roast tomorrow…..never again to frequent
I read about the restaurant and tasting tour in the Sunday Times a few weeks back and decided to book. We visited just after Fridays big storm. Situated close to a pretty village and Druscillas Zoo/Park the estate is set at the top of a...long drive way in a secluded location. The wine tour is interesting and informative, if you have some interest in wine. They do almost everything on site and see what goes into producing a bottle made me wonder how it can be sold for such a relatively low amount. It’s a massively time consuming process. The estate is all the result of one couples vision and kudos to them. The facility reminded me at points of a Bond villains lair. I enjoyed the tasting after the tour, concluding the blanc de noir my favourite. I bought a bottle along with some particularly excellent chocolate from the shop on site afterward. The young staff in the restaurant provided a polite and efficient service. I didn’t much care for the meagre milo prawns but the bread- some bought in locally and some baked on site was excellent. The pollock, supplemented with potatoes from the sides list was great. My wife enjoyed the lamb. The chocolate blood orange mousse was exceptional. Given the evident quality of the food and location I don’t consider for two courses expensive. Those complaining about portion size perhaps better served elsewhere. Fine dining isn’t a typical all you can eat affair and nor should it be. I thought criticism of that nature unfair. You aren’t entering a buffet, pub or fast food chain. We travelled a long way to get here and I didn’t resent it at all. A worthwhile day out and a good meal. Book the tour with meal to follow. Solid recommendation from us.
Tried to book in for lunch, but we left it too late. Instead we did the tour and tasting. Catherine was excellent at informing us all about the business of making wine on the South Coast. The wines we tasted were delicious. The us disagreed over whether the or Blanc de Blanc was our favourite of the We'll definitely be back for the tasting menu lunch. Can't wait to return to this amazing place.
