I think my first sign that this was not going to be a great experience was when I walked in the door and did NOT smell pizza. That’s the hallmark of a legit pizza joint. It should smell like pizza. This place had no real aroma and there were diners there eating. The pizza itself had a kind of tough texture not at all what one would expect from a properly risen dough and a hot pizza oven. That’s what creates a crispy crust almost to the point of char. That’s also what causes the bubbles in the crust that are crispy and delightful. The sauce was good in fact, that was about the best part. The cheese was over the top, though. There was too much cheese and it caused the crust to be soggy. Also, the cheese hadn’t been cooked enough. It also appeared that the cheese was on top of the meat topping. Either that or there was so much cheese that the toppings sank into it. The pepperoni on the pizza wasn’t cooked enough. Bottom line, this is one step above Dominoes hand tossed pizza. The texture on the bottom of the pizza belied that it was most likely cooked on a baking pan similarly to a chain pizza. I really wanted to like this place and based on the reviews, it seemed like it was going to be good. It really wasn’t, though. I wound up throwing half of the pizza away and regretted eating the half I didn’t. Everybody I met there was very friendly and accommodating, but the pie fell far short of being worth the money. There’s another restaurant in Waynesville that I won’t mention by name that is far better.
Meh. It was just ok. Nothing to really write home about. The atmosphere was awesome. The owner or the manager was in there sliding tables around very hard to be able to seat the big party. Very very noisy and doing it very harshly. Kids enjoyed the pizza. Fried mushrooms were very oily the dipping sauce was good that was with them. Prices are affordable. Maybe if the atmosphere was different the meal would of been better. Not somewhere i plan on going back too
Stopped here two years ago, out of the blue, looking for pizza in the area. We ordered the south of the boarder pizza which was different as it was basically nachos on a pizza crust, very good. We looked for the resturant last year but couldn't remember the name and couldn't remember where it was. So here we are again in April of 2022 and we found it. We stopped in at waynesville pizza and ordered the South of the border pizza again as well as a BBQ chicken pizza and the fried pickles. Everything was delicious, you won't be disappointed.
Food was good, prices were good, and service was very friendly. The pizza was delicious and so was the gluten free pizza option for my wife. The kids meals were very reasonably priced with good size portions as well. My one gripe was I ordered a Guinness and it was clear from the first smell that it was going to be off-flavored and my first sip confirmed it. Didn't end up finishing it, but this place needs to clean or change its tap lines, I recommend getting any beer in a bottle or can otherwise you're probably rolling the dice one the beer being off-flavored from a dirty tap line infection. All and all great little spot and outside area to eat.
We did takeout pizza (which a lot of folks do apparently -we saw so many doing the same) and it was great! The crust was superb- crunchy and buttery. Good veggie options too! WP offers wings, sandwiches and salads on top of the good pizza.
