Waxhaw Creamery

I visited Waxhaw Creamery with my family tonight, and it was a disappointing experience. We walked in to find no other customers in line and three employees stationed behind the counter. Instead of a warm welcome or a simple "good evening," we were met with silence. As we stood there trying to decide on flavors, all three employees just stared at us without offering any assistance or even suggesting a sample. We were just met with blank stares. Frustrated by the lack of customer service, we decided to leave, but as we walked out, one of the employees sarcastically said, “have a good night.” It was unprofessional and off-putting. I can't support a business with such poor customer service—honestly, all three of them should be let go.

This is the best ice cream in the Charlotte area, hands down. If it's not close by to you, it's worth the drive. And downtown Waxhaw is a cool and unique spot.

Our family loves this place. The ice cream, the people, location it's so great warming. It's one of our favorite places to go.

If you haven't visited this place yet, stop what you're doing and head over—it's incredible! For those still reading, this spot offers classic ice cream flavors that you might think couldn't be improved upon after all these years. Yet, they've managed to do just that. Every flavor you try is guaranteed to be the best you've ever tasted!

Unfortunately, after just a few bites of her ice cream, my friend started to show signs of an allergic reaction. Thankfully, paramedics were nearby and assisted us in using her EpiPen, and she is now okay. Concerned about the situation, I returned to the shop to ask what flavor they had actually given her and to alert them about potential cross-contamination. The owner informed me that the entire cone and the two scoops were indeed dairy. I expressed my disbelief, especially since her order was clearly marked with a dairy allergy and they had assured us about switching scoops and changing gloves. The owner didn't seem to take my concerns seriously; he brushed them aside and focused on whether one of the workers had changed his gloves. However, at that moment, the gloves were the least of my worries—my friend had been served a dairy cone with dairy ice cream. Having worked in an ice cream shop myself, I understand how easy it is to follow proper precautions to ensure allergy safety, so I was extremely frustrated and disappointed by their careless handling of the situation. They didn’t even check on my friend after the incident. Based on this experience, I will not be trusting this creamery with allergy concerns in the future.
