Utopia at Waterfall Gully

Even though the venue is only small they made up for it with the food and overall ambiance about the venue. Not a lot of room inside if you can't say your vowels outside due to unfavourable weather conditions.

Kelly and the team from Utopia gave us the wedding of our dreams. Everything was perfect; the location, the decorations and of course the food! We simply couldn't be happier.

Unfortunately the food does not live up to the magnificence of the location. The staff were friendly and attentive but seemed to want to rush us to order. I had the focaccia with avocado, haloumi and eggs. The eggs were the best part of the dish. There was only a scrape of avocado on the bread which with the haloumi did not spend much time on the heat because they were cold, the bread not toasted and the haloumi rock hard. Not a good dish. Others had similar thoughts about their dishes. To add insult to injury the coffee was cold despite a request for very hot, perhaps like other reviewers they did not want us to linger.

My partner and I wanted somewhere for brunch (at 1230) decided to go up to waterfall gully for brunch and a walk. We got to the café and were attended to immediately, given a table inside as it was spitting outside, and proceeded to be given table water and menu's. We decided to have the "make your own" breakfast, and both decided on the toast, egg (scrambled for me, poached for her) bacon, hash-browns, I had the chorizo and my partner had the breakfast sausage, which we shared half each, honestly, the food was awesome, the hash-browns were not the mc Donald's type but more of a string type of potato put together in a Pattie type arrangement - YUM!!!, we then had a chai latte and coffee and brunch was complete. Afterwards we decided to grab the umbrella and do a walk up to the first waterfall, we ended up as it was only 400 metres to the second falls, going further up the hill, definitely worth doing, helped the brunch go down, and as we both had stress from other areas of our lives, being near the waterfall, did not feel like you were only a 15 minute drive from civilisation. Very relaxing!!! we will be back another time to hike further as it was extremely de-stressing and enjoyable time.

I don't write reviews lightly, in fact I was so impressed I have just opened a trip adviser account to leave you this one! From the moment we arrived for lunch last Friday we were greeted with a big warm smile and a menu full of amazing choices. Not being able to decide on just one, my friend and I decided to choose a few starters and mains and just share. We started with Mini Sliders, Buffalo chicken wings and Arancini balls...the flavors were amazing and the arancini balls were the best I have had. For mains we had the Barramundi which was on the specials board, my fav was the Duck breast with the most amazing smoked yogurt and pickled cherries.... I think I have just found Food Heaven Oh did I mention the desserts.....melt in your mouth to die for! We will definitely be coming back as not only was the food fabulous but the owners, chef and staff are clearly passionate about food and service. Well done Utopia, see you soon :)
