As an example, I chose the Pure and Simple menu with the scallops. The scallops were tiny and oversalted. I'd rather see three nice sized scallops than 6 babies that toughen easily. The salad and beans were over sauced. If you are going to serve premium pata negra, it needs to be fully lean with no gristle and little to no fat. Whereas the wine bottle prices seemed reasonable, the per glass prices are over the top. A lot of truffle dishes..truffles everywhere. Music was too heavy and too loud inside. Again..it's good but not wow for the money.
The hostess are unprofessional and racist. We showed up with 5 people and to add additional context it was a group 3 POC and 2 white guys. When asked if we could sit, the host proceeded to look up and down and said there was no space. There was only 1 table sat and it was 7pm (how busy could it be? . I would not recommend this place as there are better restaurants with nicer and more professional staff.
Easily the most overpriced and overrated restaurant in the Hamptons. Finally the last time we go there. This was our 3rd time in 3 years and every time we say never again but this time it's true. The food is so poorly cooked (my $50 truffle pasta was clearly in the water for twice as long as should have been and was complete mush). The entrees were insanely bland and burnt. They have an item called truffle potato poppers and when we asked what they were the description was not close to reality...they effectively charge $25 for a roasted potato with no reasoning with mayonnaise on the side to dip in. Just grab yourself $3 McDonald fries and you will be much happier. No one came back to ask how things were even though we barely touched our food. Just my wife and I and one drink each and the bill was almost $400. Literally biggest rip off in the area and we've been here for 15 years. They keep saying they have all these regular customers, which I'm sure is true, but they clearly have a strong desire to eat bad food and waste money. Never again we finally learned our lesson the hard way,
Always a great meal at Bistro Ete. I had the brie and mushroom en crote and the duck confit paella. Both were outstanding. I had a few nibbles of the roasted Brussels sprouts and they were excellent as well.
Wow is all I can say . Great ambiance. We had the goat cheese salad and short ribs with pasta in a cream sauce. Everything was amazing and unlike many restaurants everything came out hot! We couldn't make it to dessert but the menu looked intriguing. Can't wait to go back
