Been in Floaters a few times. Best cajun food in alaska tried the alligator, the gumbo, and the jambalaya. The burgers are large the Floater burgers are all 1/2 pound and the prices are very reasonable, where else can you find a full ribeye steak dinner for $18 in the valley. Got about 20 beers on tap and old fashioned soda on tap try the orange creme or the Root Beer. I will definitely be back again.
Had lunch on a Friday. Our order included Hush puppies, Cod Basket with fries, a Burger plate, and a Philly Steak Sandwich basket with onion rings. The Hushpuppies were golden and delicious. Fries were fresh cut potato fries, the burgers are ground on site and hand pattied, the Cod was deep fried a crispy golden brown, the onion rings were just the right done so onions were firm but not crunchy, and the philly steak meat was just right...not fatty or grizzly. The resturant is clean as well as the bathrooms are clean and styled nicely. Prices are right and reasonable.
Said best burgers , not really sure how they can say that . Plus for a picture of a bacon burger they broke 1 piece put one piece of bacon on my burger and broke it up into a c cuz that's the start of my name I guess but it wasn't very cool they should have put the three pieces of bacon on that shows in the picture bartender she was cool greeted with a smile the atmosphere on the on the patrons or the customers in there was kind of well got to figure it's big lake so take it for what it is Big Lake
Save your money. UPDATE LOL Writing a more eloquent, detailed review since the owner decided to be snarky with my previous response. My family and I (party of 6) dined in on Friday night, prime rib night! Red flag one: there were 2 other tables… on a Friday prime rib special night… Decided to let it slide, and had very high hopes. Ordered mozzarella sticks, and fried zucchini, that took a while to come out, but AGAIN, I had high high hopes after hearing endless praise about this place. Maybe the staff was busy, maybe the cooks were new, maybe, just maybe, I was being too harsh on a new restaurant out in BigLake, my home town. Our meals’ salads came before we ever saw the appetizers, but even I didn’t think it was that big of an issue, just strange. My family and I are not the pickiest of the bunch, mind you, but I do feel welcome to criticize this business to pieces after they came after my “business” (HOBBY) that I haven’t actively done in 3 years (let alone, have no public reviews for). Food arrives, this is the second time we’ve seen our waitress all night, she was kind and likely a little stressed, fully understandable. Dinner rolls were staler than a rock, stabbing it with our fork was akin to cardboard, prime rib was tough and flavorless, the chicken sandwich had… little to no chicken?? I ate a few bites before passing, as I just wasn’t a big fan. The waitress did not question why any of us hadn’t even gotten halfway through the meal OR had a full uneaten sandwich, simply commented on how “I suppose y’all don’t even want boxes?”. It’s summer so I expected a mosquito or two, not the 4 flies my family and I avoided the dive bombs of. I gave y’all a chance, was disappointed, and with how the owner is deciding to criticize me on my Google profile? I will not be returning and advising others to not do the same. I wish you all growth as a business and within your characters. Ps: not all was bad, the only thing we all finished were the mashed potatoes and sweet potato fries. Do better.
