The Dabney - Washington, D.C.

We were in Washington and I made a list of restaurants and this was one of them! My husband made the reservation and I asked him to call and ask about our baby daughter and he did and got this response: you can bring your baby, but if she starts making noise you will have to leave!!! For a Michelin-starred restaurant, this response was insulting to us, before they had only said “no” to babies! Therefore, babies and children are not welcome in this restaurant!

This place was INCREDIBLE and well worth the Michelin hype. We ate at the bar where the bartenders crafted memorable drinks, made perfect menu suggestions and explained how these delicacies were made. Every dish was familiar, but the best version of that thing. The sweet potato was actually the most perfect fish sandwich! The ham sandwich was like the best parts of bacon with no fat. The sugar toads were like delicate fish chicken wings and completely special. This made my entire trip and night out with an old friend memorable. Will brave the sketchy alley again!
