It truly lived up to the praise. I believe there was a bit of a staffing situation, but someone who I think was the owner was attentive and took great care of my table and others. The food was excellent. As we continue to navigate post-pandemic life, I hope to support more locally-owned, smaller restaurants, and this establishment is a perfect example of why that’s important.
A few good friends and I went to see a show at Hook Hall and decided to take a stroll down to Georgia Avenue to visit this hidden neighborhood gem called Ortas. At 9 o'clock on a Sunday, the restaurant was completely empty, which made us a bit apprehensive at first. However, once we ordered our drinks and food, we were pleasantly surprised. The food was fantastic, and even the tapas were generously portioned and absolutely delicious. I ordered the sweet soup and initially thought I wouldn't like it because it was full of zucchini (which I despise), but it turned out to be quite marvelous. The flavors were subtly spiced but perfectly balanced, and the heat at the end was a lovely touch. Since we were the only customers and it was late on a Sunday, we wrapped things up quickly so the staff could go home. However, I'm sure the next time we visit, the restaurant will be bustling, and my friends and I will really be able to enjoy everything it has to offer.
Charming neighborhood spot with delicious food and wonderful staff. They don't serve brunch yet, but I've heard it's coming soon. The paella is exceptional!
This place is a hidden gem. My husband and I make it a point to visit them at least once a month. The tapas are beyond amazing and the service is always wonderful. So glad to have them in the neighborhood.
Went for a date night while visiting from out of state. Our waiter was fantastic! He was friendly, attentive, made great recommendations, and didn’t hover. The ambiance of the restaurant was great, it was quiet and had a casual, cozy, romantic feel. Our food was delicious and came out in a more than reasonable amount of time. The sangria was good, tapas and mains were great, but the poached pears we had for dessert were an absolute show stealer! 100% will visit again when we come back to visit.
