Service is super friendly, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere friendly. It’s nice to have the vegan meals specifically labeled. When we went, my partner asked for vindaloo, which comes with meat, but they were able to accommodate and make it vegan. Delivery is available through third party services, but they also have in-door and out-door dining during covid. All the servers were following social distance and mask rules. Prices are comparable to similar restaurants the area.
The name of this restaurant shouldn’t be mistaken for the quality or flavor of the food. The puris had a greasy, stale odor, and the napkins smelled just as old. The waitstaff and kitchen staff were arguing loudly, reminiscent of the bustling streets of India, which was probably the only accurate aspect of the restaurant's name. On a positive note, they do offer a good variety of vegetarian options!
I absolutely love this place and would highly recommend it to anyone in Capitol Hill. This Indian restaurant is the real deal! My friend and I stopped by during the DC Black Film Festival, and even though we ordered takeout, the hostess, Noor (I believe that's her name), made us feel incredibly welcome. She allowed us to sit at the bar to enjoy our meal, provided us with water, napkins, and everything we needed. We found ourselves singing and dancing through our meal (you know it's good when you start dancing), and Noor came over frequently to check on us. We left the festival feeling incredibly happy and satisfied with full stomachs. I’m so glad we stumbled upon this gem on that beautiful sunny day! We ordered Chana Masala (chickpeas), garlic naan, samosas, and Butter Chicken, and you really can't go wrong with any of it. It felt like we were transported to a restaurant straight in India. I would give it a 10 out of 10! Thank you for your wonderful hospitality, Noor and Bombay Street Food 2!
The food was quite delicious, and although the wait was a little lengthy, it was definitely worth it. The chicken Marsala was packed with flavor, but I did find that everything was a bit on the spicy side, even though we requested mild options. So if you enjoy spicy food, this spot will be perfect for you. The mango lassi was also very tasty!
