Cosy and cosmopolitan, this independent coffee shop is everything a coffee shop should be. Excellent coffee is paired with a warm and welcoming ambience in a room with original high ceilings, exposed brick walls, good natural light and plenty of seating opportunity to work, think, read or vice versa. Try the Cranberry Orange Muffins served in flower pots: the best everywhere!

Great coffee, but their hours are a bit unreliable! This place serves the best coffee in the area and has a wonderful coffee house vibe with free Wi-Fi. However, one downside is that they tend to close whenever students are gone, but they never update their hours on the website. If you're not a regular, it's best to call ahead to confirm their hours, or you might find your coffee craving unfulfilled.

Coffee served in a warmed-up, real mug? Absolutely! The owner served me a beautiful white cup that was pleasantly warm to the touch, filled with their Nicaragua blend. I was truly impressed. My husband ordered a chai tea latte, and the cup he received was huge—honestly, it felt just like home! Our kids shared a hot chocolate, which they loved. The pastries displayed in the case looked incredible. There are plenty of tables to relax and enjoy the ambiance or do some people-watching through the windows.

I think about this place all the time. It's been about 4-5 years since I last visited. Practically lived here in college. Having a bunch of other coffee joints under my belt since moving back to the KC area in 2017, I can confidently assert that Java Junction is the best coffee I've ever had. Art is amazing at his craft. The quality is unmatched. 10/10 would recommend visiting if you're looking for a new coffee shop to haunt.
