I've gone twice in the last few weeks because they have gluten-free fries, and the food is genuinely really good. The staff are usually always nice. However, I do have to note that they have been super understaffed lately. I typically go on Fridays and it's busy, there's only one server, one cook, and the wait is super long. I know some days I am not always able to sit there for two hours and I'm sure that is similar for others, too.
While visiting from out of town, we decided to try Ash and Elm because we saw that it had several Gluten free options for our son. All of us were very pleased with our food choices. The Cuban was delicious. The Smash Burger on Gluten Free got rave reviews from our son with Celiac Disease, and our daughter loved her Mac n Cheese. We would seek this place out if we ever return to Indy.Dietary restrictions: My son has Celiac so he ordered the Smash Birger with Gluten Free bun option. While it did not come out on a bun, but rather Gluten Free bread, the bread was thick “like French Toast bread” as he described it, and he said it was very good!
I visited Ash Elm for the first time on November 10, 2023 for a late lunch around 2pm. While it wasn't busy at that time of day, there were about 3 or 4 other parties with only the bartender serving all of the guests. I was greeted by the bartender Sally who offered me a flight of ciders after learning it was my first visit. I chose to go with the cider of the month, Pear Vanilla which was delicious. I ordered the Cider Braised Chicken sandwich with a side caesar salad. If you haven't tried this sandwich you must! It was served on toasted bread with shredded lettuce, melted cheese and house made honey mustard. The chicken was shredded, but not stringy and the flavor of the cider came through nicely. I noticed Sally managing service and food delivery to everyone while maintaining a pleasant demeanor. Several additional people began arriving and Sally was amazing. Once I finished my lunch, Sally offered a growler or 4 pack of cider to take home this employee is a keeper! With so many establishments struggling to find and keep good employees she provided excellent, prompt service, and upsold me!Thank you Sally for a fabulous lunch!
The cider here is fabulous! I went on a Thursday evening and it wasn't very busy, service was quick and attentive. I had the brussel sprouts appetizer and it was so good and very generous portion. The bulgogi beef bowl was very very salty though (and they were out of kimchi, which they told me upon ordering). I wouldn't get it again.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options were available and the menu was marked for vegan and vegetarian items.
