It does not rate anywhere near the top restaurants in Newcastle. The meals are tasty, but not amazing. Our meals were warm, not hot, so became cold very quickly. The meals were ridiculously huge, so we had leftovers put in containers...and I missed the pannacotta!!!! Damn!!! We felt a little rushed by wait staff, in making selections...came to our table twice within a short period of time, to take our orders. Not long after food came to the table, we were once again, asked how our food was......lovely staff, but a bit over-bearing. A nice place for an average meal, but not hold section of entertainment card, and probably will not return, for dinner at least, as it did not provide us with the wow factor...in taste, service nor decor.
We visit Travinos frequently and we are never disappointed. I'm a huge squid fan and these guys are the only ones that use actual fresh squid. I love it. Hubby had the ribs and a coffee and raved about them. I had the banana and spinach smoothie which was lovely too. We'll always come back here.
Went for lunch today and was bitterly disappointed with the appalling slow service and dreadful food when I said don't take you're dog, I have implied even a dog wouldn't eat the food!don't try the ribs, or chicken schnitzeland on a cold winter's day take a blanket as the restaurant is freezing. the wait was one hour with only a few customers.
The setting of this restaurant is quite good, nice decor and on the night we visited (Saturday) not overly busy. Unfortunately the food is average. Seafood marinara was overloaded with pasta and had little taste. The same can be said of the squid which has no flavour at all. I would expect to find this food in an average pub setting. Service was ok and staff were very friendly. This restaurant needs to do a lot better with the food and the range on the menu
Arrived with family at 10:30am for brunch. Ordered coffee and food soon after. 11:15am coffee arrived and food 11:45am. Staff apologised for the wait and offered complimentary drinks. Food was at best ordinary with my wife unable to finish corn and fennel cakes. Unfortunately, a disappointing dining experience and I don't often post reviews. We won't be back!
