High quality, simple breakfast, excellent service. Cakes looked delicious. Very pleasant experience.

I am a frequent to the cosy cafe and delicious brunch and Kim at MRS as it is known has the goods here. Always friendly and the French decor is on point. The meals are great and the coffee is always perfect. Outside of the...CBD it is a gem that is “off the beaten track”. Go and read a book or the newspaper from a quiet corner to the open terrace that was once the refueling point where petrol bowsers once stood which is a piece of the history of the store. Next door to the butchers you can go home with dinner. Awesome place !

I arrived at the Murdoch Road Store. No salutations. I waited (and wondered) if I was going to be shown to a seat. Nope. I found my own seat. The staff were efficient, but not particularly communicative or friendly. Once the coffee was served, I...was ignored, except when the cup was collected and I asked for another cappuccino. No conversation, even when the empty water jug was removed. I must say though, the greeting is quite different if you are friends with the owner. Oh, and the waitress was friendly at the end of my visit AFTER I’d paid her. In a nut shell, the coffee was good, the interior decor was modern and the jazz music provided a laid back atmosphere, though it was a bit too snotty and ‘Melbourne’ for my liking. I don’t recommend this venue for anyone out for coffee on their own. I’m glad I didn’t spend more money there, because their attitude was less than welcoming which is a BIG disappointment, given the rave reviews I’ve read and heard about this place. The staff really need more training in ‘meeting and greeting’.

This is a hidden gem.. it used to be a general store but is now a very elegant coffee shop/restaurant with above quality glassware, dinner ware and deco. We drive quite a distance across town to indulge about once a month or more. Always exceptionally...friendly and professional service. The homemade cakes are always lovely and different to what you would normally experience... such a treat! I see the comment about takeaway We have often swung past for a takeway coffee and sometimes an egg and bacon roll to die for) . With its tasteful deco, professional service and lovely food it is always an upmarket experience to dine there. Highly recommended.

Visited with two friends. Chicken, bacon and mushroom rissotto was cooked well and tasted wonderful. The silverside russian sandwich was described by my friend as magnificent. I wasnt feeling hungry and staff were happy to provide me with a childrens serve of chicken tenders. We...shared a bowl of MRS chips and they are yumm !! Nice and big and chunky and a secret blend of spices. The chips that came with the meals were shoestring and had the same seasoning. Coffees are creamy and good. Service is friendly and good and meals came out in a reasonable time. A nice atmosphere. We will definitely return.
