Hunters Cafe - Wanganui

Stopped here for lovely coffee and delicious carrot cake. Great service and safe parking off the main highway.

Below average service, man just stood at the till and did not clear any tables. no smiles. as said tables were grubby and food was given in bags and coffee in takeaway cups when we were eating in. $6 coffee for a small size is outrageous. gets a few stars for the convenient location but that’s all. a ‘not unless you have to place’. do not recommend.

Great food and in a nice setting. Staff were very accommodating as we had a 3 month old in a stroller. Lovely surroundings with the cherry blossom trees in full bloom.

Very slow service to order, waited at the counter for ages, tables were filthy as was the toilets. Took half hour for 2 toasties burger, food was average. Only 2 people seated eating when we arrived. Waited 45 minutes for 2 shakes coffee that never came, another table sat down and within 5 mins got a coffee. Asked for a refund for our drinks and the guy who served us, was confused on what we ordered. Finally got a refund in cash and he asked US to give HIM $2 change as he over refunded. We spent $52+ in the Cafe and get treated like that, won't go back.

Menu looked good, decided on what we'd have, rung bell but no staff appeared. Waited 5 mins somebody bought a meal out from kitchen to a table but didn't acknowledge us. We left walked up the street and came back 10mins later people still waiting to be served after ringing the bell. Still no response so we left. Such bad customer service! Even if the man was busy, he could've told us to wait or come back in half an hour, we wouldn't have minded that at all.
