The dim sum, noodles, rice, and other dishes were all reasonably priced and incredibly delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive. Despite being a self-service restaurant, the dining tables were spacious and the chairs were comfortable with a traditional Chinese design. The quality of the food more than justified the cost. In addition, the Jasmine Chinese tea was also affordable compared to other restaurants. Overall, it was a great experience and well worth the money.
This review is for the restaurant located in Hanger Lane. It is more of a canteen than a traditional restaurant, but the food is simple yet delicious. It is very affordable, you can have a satisfying meal for less than ten pounds! It is definitely worth a visit and is much better than a typical fast food chain. Additionally, you have the opportunity to explore Hoo Hing's warehouse and see the variety of fish they offer. The restaurant closes at 4pm. We frequent this place often and you can even get takeout!
While staying at the Travelodge and waiting to check in at 3pm, we decided to have lunch. Originally planning to head towards Hanger Lane tube station, we stumbled upon a supermarket and decided to explore. To our delight, we found a cafe inside offering delicious dim sum, noodles, and rice dishes at a great price. The menu is limited but has enough options to choose from. You simply order at the counter, pay, receive a ticket, and wait for your number to be called. I enjoyed roast duck and rice with tea for less than £5, and even got a free tea refill. My sister had noodle soup with duck and char Sui, as well as fried wanton dumplings, all for under £15 as shown in the attached photos. The no-frills service and affordable prices left us satisfied. The cafe is open from 12pm to 4pm and was bustling with customers during our visit from 2pm to 3pm, including families, solo diners, couples, friends, and colleagues. Solo diners can feel comfortable eating here. The cafe is conveniently located about a 10-minute walk from both Hanger Lane and Stanbridge Park, and only 5-8 minutes from the Travelodge, with a free customer carpark available. An added bonus is the well-stocked supermarket where you can shop at reasonable prices - I bought crisps for £1.00 that cost £1.50 in Birmingham Chinatown supermarket. It would be great if customers could purchase dim sum or fresh fish downstairs and have them cooked upstairs. Overall, a recommended spot with potential for expansion.
Yet another romantic and lavishly expensive meal at our newly adopted favourite dining venue! A little under £13 for two people, bring your own candle for the romantic touch. Great place to stop over for a bite of good Chinese food, inexpensive and informal. This is where the Chinese takeaways n restaurants get their supplies from. It is like a staff canteen but none the worse for that.
Stopping off to shop at the North Circular Road branch (near Hangar Lane) to shop discovered there was a small cafeteria upstairs. Quite a busy place, with a small but very reasonably priced menu all freshly cooked on site. The staff were clearly very busy and somewhat harassed but remained efficiently calm despite.
