The only thing is that the Sashimi was a little warm when she served. That made me a little worried about the freshness during the hot weather. But everything else was great!!
That's not your average Pokeplatz. Chirashi is a Japanese word scattered, and unlike other Poke sites that arrange a bowl of rice and small serving spoons of last night salmon, Chirashi by Mr. 7 arranges your fresh slices of fish in a fanned display. The way your food is served reflects the general attitude of this place: attention to detail. The ingredients in the bowls are presented in a way that highlights each piece of fish while still maintaining this cohesive Poke Bowl image. Each piece is carefully cut out and placed strategically on a bed sushi rice. Well, I don't think about myself as a sushi expert, but I had my fair share of fish, and I got used to what I think is good fish. And this place has GOOD FISH. The salmon is fresh, not too fishy, with a buttery texture. The Ahi Tuna is perfectly understood, slightly salted and absolutely delicate. Even the spicy tuna, which is usually regarded as cheap filling for Californian reels, receives special treatment, with a fine spicy taste and an inexplicably creamy texture that is used little to no Mayo at all. The pages are more underestimated, but are by no means subdued. The guacamole is incredibly good (I doubled my part) with a bright taste and smooth texture that was pleasantly interrupted with diced red onion and tomatoes. This guacamole is very free to the fresh aromas of fish and does not feel out of place, unlike other Poke sites. The rest of the pages are well dressed and taste fresh (crat meat, edamame, seaweed) but I really like this guacamole when it was clear. Chirashi of Mr. 7 also looks like INCREDIBLE. It is located across the street of Mt. San Antonio College, in a shopping center with affordable Asian restaurants and fast food sites. But this place has extremely clean, refined decor with soft white LED bars and stripes of light birch wood that give the restaurant an extremely clean, modern aesthetic. Food should always be in the center of what makes a restaurant great, but the culinary experience counts for something, and Chirashi from Mr. 7 beats the nail on the head through a unique environment that is trendy and cozy. Google does not let me take half a star, but my only sadness with this restaurant does not guarantee the removal of a full star. This grief is the price. It is expensive what is an interesting movement. College students are causally broke, and many of them (I myself included) could go into, see the price, and go back directly. Let me explain why it is expensive, from my point of view. This is not meant to be an affordable oasis for starved, broke students who want a quick bite between the classes. Chirashi of Mr. 7 should be a culinary experience, one that only uses the freshest and most tasteful ingredients, one that offers a premium dining environment, and one that you do not leave You feel like you bleed the last of your pay check on some rice in a bowl with raw fish above. If you're like me and you enjoy quality sushi, you need to give this place a try. It is a decision that will turn a one-time visit to a weekly ritual, and although your wallet 't thank you for it, your taste will be buds.
This place happened this semester and I enjoy coming here last week. Their fish is very fresh and their portions are definitely generous.
The food was really good. Service was great. Prices were very affordable.
Food was surprisingly good. Did not like the self checkout thing though.
