Perhaps, because it is off season but I found this place to be an average up north convienece store. Saw no specialty sandwiches everyone else wrote about. Actually lots of disarray in the place and seemed like it could use a thorough cleaning. My friends LIED, told me homemade jerky was available the non smiling cashier said they never have them.
Excellent store at the foot of Walloon Lake. Great place to grab a couple sandwiches such as the Pink Loon and the Wallooner! Those are specialty sandwiches specifically made here and a must-try when visiting. Also great place to buy Walloon Lake souvenirs and any other things you need on the lake.
I'm not sure what they did recently, but their pizza is amazing. Maybe I'm just going crazy, but I went from never getting pizza here to only getting pizza here. Also, If you've gone to Walloon and haven't gotten either a Pink Loon or a Wallooner sandwich, you haven't really gone to Walloon. The ice cream is way too cheap for how much you get. Either other places are charging way too much, or they are selling ice cream at a loss. I could go on, but I'd recommend just stopping by and checking out this gem for yourself.
Stopped here for ice cream. Ordered in the back, told the friendly young man I 'd like a single scoop in a waffle cone. Each of the other three people in my group also ordered a single scoop in a waffle cone. We took our cones up front to pay. My husband said 4 single scoops in waffle cones . The woman working looked at each of us and said those don 't look like singles! My husband said we asked for single scoops. She replied Well waffle cones are for double scoops! I jokingly said Uh oh looks like we got the scooper in trouble. The grump didn 't even crack a smile. Ice cream was tasty, but didn 't enjoy the rude treatment at the counter. She immediately made a beeline for the back as we were leaving...poor kid probably caught hell. Sorry kid.
