The Darrington - Wakefield

While looking for a sit-down option instead of fast food on a road trip, we stumbled upon this restaurant. It wasn't our top choice, but many places were closed on a Monday. The staff was extremely friendly and checked on us multiple times, even explaining that our initial order wasn't available and helping us find a substitute. The food, when it arrived, was delicious and the portions were generous enough to warrant a Doggy bag that we gladly accepted.

Randomly found this place on our journey to Sunderland yesterday and it was so good we stopped on our way home today! Food is delicious and such great value with big portions! They have offers on each day too! Yesterday I went to order a...glass of wine and was told could have a whole bottle for as it was wine Wednesday!! Lovely bottle it was too! But what made it such a great place was the staff so efficient, helpful and friendly, every single one of them! We will be back!

I've seen over the years the terrible reviews against the darrington and never understood them because our food we have actually always enjoyed, we've eaten here for years sometimes twice a week, but the last times have been horrendous since the change in menu...it seems to be change in suppliers or something because the food is disgusting Im not a serial moaner and think this is the second time I have ever left a review anywhere!! Tonight was the final straw unfortunately and will not be returning until we hear of major changes, the chicken is clearly frozen ****, steak tastes foul, sausages god don't even get me started on them anaemic looking things, everything looked so under or over cooked wish I got more pictures but I was just so disgusted, no tikka masala hasn't been for last couple of weeks and the lady at the till told us they only get on their delivery a week so have to save them for their Wednesday curry night!!!! Yet again frozen .... the waitress asked the table behind us if everything was okay with the meals the older gentleman was polite and said definitely not to his pallete but never mind and she walked off and said sorry about that, when she came to our table it was clear we didn't enjoy our meals but she didn't ask us if everything was okay, I'm not one to cause a fuss or embarrass anyone hence the review I am still fuming hours after leaving, our bar tab Is just short of each time we visit as a family of couple of drinks each, sides and dessert, didn't even bother with dessert tonight state food came out, as I say we've been coming years never really had a problem but don't waste your time or money for the future it's horrendous!!!!
