Cathedral Kitchen - Wakefield

We visited this restaurant for lunch on Saturday and were delighted to find both chicken pie and steak pie on the menu. Two of us opted for the steak pie and were impressed by its tenderness and delicious flavor, with no unwanted fat or gristle. The third member of our group chose the chicken pie and thoroughly enjoyed it. We all appreciated the old photos of Wakefield displayed on the TV and the variety of items for sale in the shop area. The prices were very reasonable and the staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, a fantastic place for a meal or snack. We highly recommend it and will definitely be returning in the future.

The café located next to Wakefield Cathedral resembles an old octagonal chapter house and is quite charming. It offers ample seating and features walls adorned with items available for purchase, as it also functions as the Cathedral shop. The menu is somewhat limited, with only two main course options, but I found my quiche and salad to be quite enjoyable. The café also offers a variety of tempting cakes to choose from.

By asking for anything outlandish like a small jug of hot water for your cup of tea. It seems to upset them. The staff appear to be very attached to their own rules and regs and can be quite rude when their unwritten laws are broken. A pity, because otherwise it's an OK place.

Fairly basic cafeteria style seating with melamine tables but interesting selection of light bites. A more substantial dish of the day changes every day and the meatloaf on this day looked excellent at a very good price. Coffee was fair trade which rarely exceeds expectations but this one wasn’t bad. Cheerful and helpful service. Quite a good experience.
